Hello everyone, another noob here.

Well, due to increasing Traffic Congestion the rising cost of petrol & the fear of trading in the SS for a grey Toyota Prius, i have been left me with no other alternative.

After 23 years of driving cars I have gone & got me a granny GN250, some comfy gear & my Learners.

Looking forward to experiencing the excitement & freedom of motoring once again & having some fun on 2 wheels.

love the sense of conradery between bikers here, good stuff.

Welcome to KB. Good on you for making the switch. You won't regret it. And nothing wrong with the good old GN as a bike to learn on. Have fun!:niceone:

Welcome aboard. Did a similar thing myself a couple of years ago. Had a nifty fifty when I was 17 but moved onto cages due to the need to carry crap for work. Apart from the odd go on a dirt bike a few year ago, that was the extent of my riding.

4 year ago a recent friendship had me go to his house for a BBQ. The B'stard opened his garage to get the BBQ out and there were 9 (yes 9) bikes sitting in there. Ranging from BMW tourer's, 2 strokes, CBR's and 600 dirt bikes. The rest is history.

Now I don't have a life.
It takes me 2-3 hours to go to the dairy for milk.
I spend endless nights praying to the weather god's:not::scratch:.
I spend far too many hours looking at a keyboard and screen trying to console similar individuals with the same afflictions:wacko:.
I can now talk sh#@t with the best of them.
On top of all that, I've met some great people who will give you the shirt off their back if you need it.:grouphug:

So you have my sympathy. You have taken that first step in the downward spiral. You life will never be the same again.

:sunny: Ride anyone.....:yeah:

Welcome along.
Make sure you check out the local cruisey wednesday ride, a GN won't be inadequate for it.
Wednesday evenings, meet at the the duckpond in avalon (lower hutt, just over the avalon bridge) around 6, leaving around 6:30.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I've managed to clock up a few k's over the past week, making the most of the 'L' plate & getting some town & about / city driving experience under my belt. I've even had a few cage 'oops, i didn't see you' moments.

Lots of bikes out & about yesterday, i like that riders acknowledge each other out there (something i'm not used to) i'm enjoying every moment...wish i'd done this years ago.

Looking forward to this time next year when i've got my full & my wife & i can do some touring on something with some grunt, untill then slow & steady wins the race.

Koba, i will definately come to a cruisey wednesday, perhaps when i'm more confident with my riding skills.

btw the 20 year old GN is a real hoot !:dodge:

Ride safe everyone

Welcome to KB! Yep you should go to the Wednesday Night Ride, you only have to ride at your own pace. And dont worry about having a GN I rode mine when i still had her over the Rimutakas quite a few times to join rides, lots of people to ask questions, and look after ya.... no probs! :niceone:
