Today I found out that my fuel tap leaks such that ON actually drains to the bottom of RES. The hard way.
Started spluttering just as I was filtering through traffic at the Grenada North exit of SH1 -- I'd been filtering pretty much since Papakowhai. I reached down and switched to RES and it kept spluttering. I pushed the bugger past the Armco and off to the side, with all that traffic slowly creeping past me, and just as I was kicking down the stand a guy on a red VTR pulled up.
In the end, the generous sod took me to J'ville, waited while I bought a can and filled it, and then took me back to my bike, waiting until I'd started it up before he cleared off.
He told me his name and I forgot it, but whoever you are, many thanks -- you made my day.

shake your bike around when that happens, there may be some gas stuck on the right side of the tank which u should be able to splash over to the other side where the two pipes are leading to the tap

Yeah, I've done that before. My old TS used to keep a little extra for me, and all I had to do was get off the bike and lie it down to get at it. Only about half a mile's worth, mind, but half a mile riding is quicker than half a mile pushing.
I didn't think to do it where I was, but to be honest, a mile or so down SH1 would have made it harder to get back to civilisation -- I was right at an exit when I stopped. Plus, there's a world of difference between laying a TS185 over and laying a ZXR750 over.
But that is a good tip.
