Just a laugh and had to tell....as I rode to work this morning i noticed a bike in my rear view mirror a few cars back. I pulled up at a red stop light and the bike lane split and pulled up next to me.....i looked across and saw it was a nice shiny new Ducati, i did the normal thing and lifted my visor and said "goodmorning....nice bike.." all i got in return was a foul look and ignored...oh well i thought to myself, the light turned green and we rode off to the next set of lights...yep again...he look me up and down then looked straight ahead...the lights changed and we moved off again...Well at the next set I noticed the ducati started to sound really off, spluttering and carrying on......I lifted my visor again and asked "are you ok? this time he answered me....." well no i think its starting to flood or something?" with that remark it stalled right at the front of the queue:doh:.....I replied "well that's gotta suck...have a nice morning then....." and happily rode off.....:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Had he not been such a stuck up prick i may have offered to help. anyone else notice some riders seem to be stuck up? or am i too friendly?

haha, na dude, i think you re-acted ok, the guy seems like a bit of a twat and lets face it, if it had happened to you, you would have seen the back of his spluttering ducati before your bike had finished stalling.

I reckon you are reading way too much into it.
If they've got a clear visor then all you can see is their eyes, so I'm not sure what constitutes a foul look. With a dark visor you can't see jack. I've given what seems like a clear nod from my perspective but others have wondered why I snobbed them.
The poor bugger may have been stressing over the traffic and a $40k bike that was obviously playing up and the last thing he may have needed was trying to make pleasant conversation.
You reckon he may have been a stereotypical stuck up Ducati rider? Maybe a case of stereotypical tall poppy syndrome instead?

He had a clear visor and body language said alot too :oi-grr:. I have had riders before that just don't see you or the traffic is way to busy and never thought badly of them.....and why does it seem that you think i dont like Ducati riders....had it have been a different bike i'd thought and done the same...but i can see where you are coming from :niceone:

I think this comment is probably more accurate, you're right about mistaking gestures, and faces with helmets on. Just like the typed word, often misinterpreted...

I'd have stopped to help.

That was deserved.

I know someone that had that poetic justice happen to them years ago - he was hitchhiking miles outa town at about 3 in the morning this car pulled up and this guy asked him if "he needs a lift", he said "yes please" then the driver said "sorry no room" (even though he was the only one in the car) and he sped off laughing....it turns out that the car driver was a guy he had had issues with in the past. Bummer of all the people to be out in about that time of the morning

I'd like to say that this opinion of "Italian Electrics/Electronics" having issues is a lie,..........but I can't as my Guzzi broke down with electrical issues the day after I bought it !!

I stop and help anyone on a bike who has trouble. The guy I helped quite a while back who had a TS50 was surprised and very grateful when a fellah on a Guzzi helped him ;)

Ahh yes, karma is great.

Just this past weekend for the KB trackday. 8am on the morning of the trackday we stop in at the BP nearest the track (Keystone and I, in a campervan with three bikes on a trailer) and pull up behind this bloody great American Desoto 60's classic. Guy fills the car (pretty full petrol station), then just leaves it where it is while he goes to pay. Taking his sweet time. He comes back out to the car, see's us waiting there then decides to go back into the shop again. For ages.
Keystone decides to go inside to give him a hurry up, by this time he's on his way out of the shop. Argument ensues. He says fine, say's he's going to go buy some more stuff from the shop (what a C*nt). We have to take the trailer off to back the camper up (fucker) to move to another pump.
Exchange a few words and hand gestures with said dickhead.
Start filling the bikes on the trailer, he goes back to his car... and guess what... it wont start. Not even turning over. Oh boy that brought a smile to my face!
Made sure I commented "karma's a bitch" loud enough for him to hear. No response, just silence while he's heading under the bonnet of the car.

He was still there after we'd paid up and left the station.

Prick. hah.

He says he had plugs in and couldnt hear what you were saying and that if he was looking serious it was probably due to his mind being on his new bike playing up.

Heh, some great stories here - might as well add mine in, was on a ride out pootling to nowhere in particular as you (well, okay, its just me!) :o

Heading up north and was just riding at the speed of other vehicles, when I noticed a mufti up front. So I drop back and content to just cruise along. I get this fellow in a souped up boi-racer car come speeding up behind me and going into some twisties, just decides to see how close he can sit behind me :angry2: Turns up his music even louder "doof doof" and has his arm hanging out casual like from the window.

I do my crazy ivans to get him to back off. No dice. He just guns his engine and does that swerving thing as if to overtake sort of thing. On a small straight, I give him hand signals to back off and indicate that theres a rozzer ahead.

No dice. :girlfight:

He roars by, the twit, on double yellows into a blind corner and I just put the picks on because I don't want to be caught up in any carnage and going around the corner, I see hes still overtaking.

The mufti.

Yep, you guessed it, lights come on quick as a flash and the stupid thing is, there is a whacking great straight where you can overtake easily after the corner!

As I pootled by, I noticed I didn't hear any "doof doof" and the cop giving me a wave and a nod as he knew exactly what had happened behind him! :niceone:

Yeah there are some right pricks out there...

I remember coming down Evans pass about a week after I bought the bike and I was obviouslt taking it nice and easy. Some guy comes up behind me in a maroon metallic legacy GT-B/B4 and sits right there on my rear wheel. Doesn't back off at all. So I slowed down from 60 to 30 kms since that was the speed I was comfortable with when he was sitting so close. Went back up to 50-60ish when we got into Sumner and onto the flat roads. Guy kept trailing me - albeit a bit further back. I pulled into the BP in Redcliffs to fill her up and the guy pulled into the BP as well... I ignored the bastards and just went about my business. For a second I had this nagging feeling that if I hadn't been a fairly big aryan fella I might have had some trouble with these bastards. Might be a coincidence, but you can never know.

*sigh* the wanker was even a gingah... ;)

It sounded like Mr DucatiRider was being a snob, but that's not always the case. I feel very awkward when some stranger on a bike pulls up beside me. Usually I nod and say, "Hi!" or "Howzitgoin'" or whatever, but sometimes I just keep to myself.

I was stopped at the lights in Wellington one day when two bikes pulled up alongside me. Two young guys and I heard one of them say "hey, it's a chick!" I was a tad flattered as I was probably old enough to be his mother! But I know what you mean, it's a bit awkward when someone pulls up and starts a conversation because if you've got earplugs in, you can't hear them in any case!

I seem to get snobbed by alot of big bike riders... Look at that noob on a pissy lil 250 they're prolly thinking. That doesn't discourage me though, except for mopeds they can get fucked -- They are soo not bikers with their no gear no nod bullshit

Good to see i'm not alone in the Karma syndrome.....thats why i'm not bother bout breaking down.....i have stopped to help plenty of times....at times i have stopped to make a call on the cell phone and had riders stop and ask..."you ok mate?"....and i have done the same......I also get heaps of people in cars even wave out or the old fingers up off the steering wheel type salute......most people are cool...just the minority i'm talking bout...you know you might come across this type once a month or so.....most riders that dont wave or nod are most probably shy, busy, ipod listeners or so, but then you get the odd prick..........i mean i actually had a rider one day lane split in front and then wave me up as if to say "come on up heaps of room." i thought that was rather nice of him......if the guy on the ducati does read this then heed the opinion that at least a nod would have bought about a different response.....but i dont think i got the wrong impression..some good stories are coming to light on this thread....loved the Karma at the BP with the Desoto.....lol..
