I fitted the Promach rearsets to my 750k6 weeks ago but never got round to scribbling down my thoughts until now - apologies kendog.

Firstly, fitting them turned out to be extremely simple... a 30 minute job tops.

I ran them in a similar position to the OE pegs initially. The pegs are VERY grippy, even in the wet - I used to find my feet slipping off on the OE pegs if the soles of the boots were wet, but not with these. The Promach feel narrower than the OE pegs so I reckon there's a bit more ground clearance even in the standard position (not that ground clearance has ever been a problem on the road).

They feel VERY solid, so obviously transmit a bit more vibration through them than the OE pegs which are sprung. It took a trip or two to get used to having fixed pegs... felt a bit daft when I got my leg trapped between the road and my peg while filtering

The rear brake feels far more positive, and it takes less pressure to lock up the rear brake than OE. I'm used to that now... fun first time out though :) There's no return spring fitted, but the lever returns under the pressure of the system immediately. Gear changes feel more positive than OE, and I've not hit a false neutral since fitting - I very occasionally did with the OE rearsets - might just be coincidence but I like to think it's the kit having shelled out for it

I've now got the rearsets moved up and back from standard, and have moved the gear lever back so it now sits perfectly in the 'cup' of my toes. The adjustability of these things is great - nothing to compare with as this is the first time I've bothered upgrading the rearsets. In this position, motorway cruises feel a bit cramped but I avoid straight line riding as much as possible anyway. I did Mallory Park a couple of weeks ago and the riding position feels absolutley spot on.

All in all, extremely happy with the purchase, though I wouldn't consider paying full retail price for them (GBP345 :oi-grr:) Thanks to ebay though, I got these for considerably less from a guy switching racebikes for next season - spares that he was selling brand new :Punk:

Nice. Very nice! A couple of photos attached. Yeah I know, the bike could do with a clean

Cheers,
Tony

Thanks for that Tony :2thumbsup The look sweet.

Interesting comment you make about the vibrations, as that is one thing I don't like about my stock ones at the moment, very vibey.

At first it felt quite noticeable but I hardly notice it now to be honest mate... it might be that I've got used to it, or that the vibration is so bad that my feet go numb ;)

Get out of it, look at all the crap round the swingarm on the left hand side :shutup::o

Don't worry, I ride it more than I clean it :2thumbsup

I *hate* you, and 98tls too. :weep:
I'd love rearsets for my VFR, or even just an adjustable gearlever, but there are fuck all available, and those that are cost such an astronomically ridiculous price as to be essentially unobtainable anyway.

Oh come on... I thought you Kiwis were an inventive lot... can't you fabricate some out of a chunk of Kauri or something? :msn-wink:

Well, actually... I do have an idea for an adjustable gearlever, using some CBR600 parts....

yeah thats what i am talking about, my stockers are powercoated on the k4, 90% of people think they are aftermarket, where they are just a cheap $30 fix

That is the price I am willing to pay.
