vfr spark plugs

ok...i want to put some new plugs in my bike, what size socket do i need, what type of plugs will be best and whats the easiest way to go about it. bikes a nc24

Burn it.

Its a honda.

No really, think and take your time and you should be able to work it out fine,

If not:
remove fairings under the seat, the seat and then the fuel tank (set tap to off unless you want to make it easier to burn the honda as it deserves)
Remove HT leads off rear 2 plugs by pulling at the rubber bit over the plug so ya dont fuck them.

Remove rear plugs with a spark plug socket. There are 3 common sizes, its one of them, can't remember off hand. Supershit or crapco sell sets of 3 for a tenner or less so if you go get one of them you will have the other sizes handy if needed for somthing else.

For the front 2 plugs remove the side fairings to make it easier then undo the bottom mount on the radiator.
Swing it foward for access and repeat procedure for rear plugs :)

If this is a shit load of effort for ya splash out on iridium plugs, $17-$25 EACH so quite likeley a rutherford note, however they last for ages and you probably wont have to do em again as long as ya have the bike :)

Sounds like a pyromaniac that knows the Honda plug proceedure backwards .
Maybee a small fantasy was being re-lived aye KOBA ?, we know ya love emm.
PS; its a 16mm plug socket and dont forget to blow a bit of air around the plug seat after you have started to loosen them ( this prevents tiny bits of crap that get stuck going into the combustion chamber) .
The iridium idea is a good one and well worth the extra cost.

haha cheers for the guys, will go see if i can find a set of thin wall sockets tomorrow, either that ill just cut a socket i have in half and weld a spacer in the middle :)

If your NC24 is anything like my NC30 the plugs are NGK ER9EH: they are bloody expensive for what they are ($34 EACH) and you need a 1/2 inch spark plug spanner. A LONG REACH 12MM SOCKET WILL DO IF YOU ARE CAREFUL


They are a complete arse to get to, and you will have skinned knuckles after.

unlikely: I asked at supercheap when I was looking for mine (no one stocked the plugs I needed) and they "only do car ones"



Also, you need a long reach 13mm NOT 12! sorry for the typo. You can buy powerbuilt 6 point ones pretty cheap

Repco will probably not have them on the shelf but they are an NGK suplier (among other I think) so they can get them in if the staff member is motivated enuf, prob no worries if u on good enuf terms to get staff discount :) I get treated well at repco too...:whistle:
Supercheap may actually be able to get them in but if your local is anything like our loca one the poor staff have probably never been trained enuf to know what a spark plug is... I think supercheap may have an exclusive deal with BOSCH too, not sure but thats all they have on the shelf here.
Have seen NGK in just about all jap bikes.
Only bosch plugs I have bought are for my volkswagen and NGK do them too!

Proably not really usefull but I'm not far away form that coveted senior membership and I try to say somthing in at least a protion of my posts :)

They are bloody pricey (http://www.ngk.com/more_info.asp?AAIA=&pid=3316) - that's 50% more than what I paid for CR9EIX Iridiums! Pretty special plug - there's not even a listing for them.

12mm won't fit - 1/2" is 12.7mm so 13mm will be the closest.

yeah i found that the spark plug socket in my powerbuilt set fits perfect, 2 extensions and a flexi joint and just feed it between the radiator and frame, no skinned knuckles and was real easy :-), just gave them a light scrub with some sand paper, checked gaps, put back in and their like new :-)
