does any one have any pointers on how to get your knee down, cause I have mates that desperately want to do it and are having trouble. I ride a yamaha FJ1200 and have no trouble at all.
My mates are riding a GSXR1000 and a GPX250.
any ideas would be helpfull.

Best practice that on a track.... would hate to see it go all wrong on a public road and you become one with an oncoming vehicle... or tree.

Don't know what this obsession anout 'knee down' is coming to. Do you even realise why racers put their knee down? One of my mates gets elbow down too on the track but that's just for the piccies, doesn't do anything..... and another mate from the good ol' days used to hang off so much he got his arse down . Stick to good riding on the road, if you go to the track, things like this progress naturally. :jerry:

Bin it... it's the fastest way to get your knee down (you can even do a double).
Ride safe!

If you're consciously thinking about getting your knee down, you're almost definitely going slower than you could be.

why do people naturally assume getting ya knee down on the road will result in a crash?

as frosty says.. do a search; that way your not subjected to everyones views and opinions.... good or bad :niceone:

I am not assuming it will do, just that it might do. All I was saying boomer is that since he is a newbie to getting the knee down (i.e. asking how to do it), then maybe somewhere with a few less moving solid obstacles might be in order first time round.... just in case it goes to slushy turds on him and the front end goes under and he becomes a human bowling ball at speed.

this is how i do it..
inside toe on the peg
half a arse cheek off
knee bent outwards
arms relaxed, body forward and over
then steadily tip her as far over as needed

this changed my riding style on the road.
all of a sudden i knew how far i could go over without binning

i got faster and smoother

Whilst in the process of crashing, you can momentarily get your knee into contact with the road. Sometimes more often than once.
