08 Harley Davidson Nightster review
Having heard a lot about Harleys and having never ridden a cruiser that I would call remotely good, I took the opportunity to ride harley’s new 08 nightster
A mechanic told me he could race me to raglan and would let me use my ER6n and still beat me!
So this uses the 1200 sportster engine and frame, and is basically finished in a black paint scheme.
I saw the bike the week previous at the sulphur city rally
It’s a cool looking bike, and not too big, and your feet aint too far forward.
On the test ride I went out with a group of Harleys.
The bike was being warmed up, so I had a sit.
The vibration was something I can recommend to girls only….it was uhhh..
It made my nose itchy and blurred my vision.
So, off we went..
This bike is gutless…it feels more gutless than a Honda 750 shadow, which is gutless anyways.
For a 1200 cc vee, it is hopeless no torque, no power, lots of vibration.
Doing roundabouts at dozing speeds on my ER6 became decking out on the harley.
It decked out incredibly easy, it makes a GN seem like a race bike.
The ride is bloody hard, you feel every bump in the road, and there is no way to transfer weight.
The bike don’t feel too heavy, it aint bad around town.
The brakes are on a par with a GT 250 hyosung, so rubbish really, very wooden, no feel, not much power
On the plus side the throttle feels nice and light, with a smooth response from the engine.
No tacho, trip counter, clock on this beast, also the indicators are strange, with a button on your right and left, you just push them again to cancel them
I must say, riding with a group of Harleys is gay. Very slow, uncomfortable, and it looks more retarded than intimidating-especially the night rod.
When I got off the lady said to me “pretty grunty eh?” I replied thinking she was being sarcastic “no, its just gutless”
Its sucked, Harleys are overpriced crap bikes, and I see no reason to get one. (someone else may)
Jumping back on the 6, I loved it more than ever, comfort, smoothness, handling, and its so easy to ride in any way. I had got my knee down on it the previous night.
So there you go, a honest harley test-now for the race to raglan!
