1st impression of the gixxer 600..............well I'm damn glad I stacked the 750 cos the K5600 is better than a pissed porn star getting fruity on your 21st birthday bash. er that's a chick porn star before anybody comments.
Best thing I've ever ridden.........er the gixxer I mean not the porn star.

So far I've ridden a gixxer thou and owned a gixxer 600 400 and 750. If I had a choice of them all I would go for the 600.
It's manageable fun everywhere. And cos it's a 600 you can rev the crap out of it all time and it won't surprise you. Quicker off the mark too as you don't have to worry about flipping it.

Will a new 600 not lift the front off the power?
I took a 2001 GSXR750 for a ride a couple of weeks back & couldnt believe the lack of mid range, how is the mid range on the new 600?
I would like to have a ride on a gsxr1000 just to see what the mid range is like on them.
Thats what i like about the TL,The way it puts its power down its not all about top end.And its plenty fast enough for me.
I really like the look of the new gixxers, If I was goin back to a I4 I would buy another gixxer.
Congrats on the new beast :niceone:

the 636 will under full power but to get it up so its really noticable you would have to adjust your weight, I havent personally done this but Ive felt the front come up slighty under full throttle

Sure will but it's a more gentle easy up controllable wheelie. Not a smack ya in the face with the top yoke wheelie.

What other impressions do you have of it????? How is the turn in,the top end and midrange???? Have you done the 1000km's or did you blast it straight away?? How do you compare the power of the 600 to your old 750???
Cheers...

Book says run it in for 1600km's I ran it in as per the manual for 800km's then did the 1st service and thrashed the crap out of it.
The 750 had alot more mid range grunt, unitentional power wheelies in 2nd off the throttle etc. However, the 600 revs more and revs easier so therefore you have to work it a little harder, but this only makes it more rewarding to ride. I imagine that the 750 had more top end whack too but I won't know for sure until after the next Wairarapa spints in November. The handling leaves the old 750 for dead. You can carry much higher corner speed and feel very comfortable doing so. If you fuck things up mid corner it's no biggie on the new'un just change line/speed or whatever to compensate. In the real world of riding on roads with uneven surfaces, varying conditions of tarmac etc the 600 is a good choice.
Plus that feeling of pinning it to the stop and enjoying the ride to the 15500 redline has to be done to be believed.
If you keep the 600 in the high 10000's there aint nothing that'll shake it off.
Suzuki seem to have addressed the build quality issue too. All the panels fit snugly and it's finished off well overall. Fairings come off in minutes and plonk back on easy without the fiddling of fasteners scenario.
I must admit that at first I was dubious about getting the 600 over the 750 due to the lack of power, but it was all I could afford. After riding it I have no reservations at all. Love it and I am converted. Bigger bikes would make you look silly on motorways, but hey, who likes to ride on those crapass things.

:niceone: whats the fuel injection like compared to your 750?
Spot on. Mind you the 750 was set up via a teka tune at WMCC and it was perfect. So far the 600 FI is seamless all the way from idle to 15500 redline. I'll have an end can on it soon and we'll see how the FI copes with that.

welcome to the small-ball club brother, oh & trust me... You WILL encounter some severe shrinkage in the testicular region from time to time, but don't despair it is only temporary & will subside once you park her up.

We prefer the term 'diminutive', although I understand the technical/medical term is 'micropenis'.

Chances are mate you will be getting a K5. Different paint job, and the light thingy are all that has changed.
You are going to love it when you get it.
It's so good if I had the money I would buy two of em.

If all goes well with teh RGV over the next year or two it will become my race bike too..... :scooter:
There's a lot of Gixer600 owners on this site now (me soon)....could almost have our very own 'sub-forum'!

Welcome back to 2 wheels Jimbo. Its looks hot. Sunday might be fine so I expect you up the hill showing off the shiny new paint (keep it that way this time OK). Pity you just can't seem to find a bike tall enough for your long legs. No wonder your leathers have developed callouses on the knees.
The Gixxer6 is getting rave reviews and WT put in a stunner of a fast run at the sprints on one- wasn't in the results though??

Jimbo,
How did you find the TEKA tune on your 750?
Huge improvement over standard. Did you have a aftermarket can and airfilter?
I've got a '98 with a K&N and a Yoshi TRS, TEKA tune to round off the package you think??

Mate I had a K&N filter and Two Bros can. The TEKA was bloody awesome. Made some good gains all the way through the rev range. Case in point at a local dyno shootout in Lower Hutt it made 126.9hp at the back wheel. That was more than a fireblade which made 117hp. The guys running the dyno were well impressed. TEKA is highly reccommended as soon as I have enough pingahs I will be getting one for the 600.
You might want a TRE (Timing retard eliminator) too
