Can't be buggered doing it this year - no one at work grows hair fast enough to compete with me. (I get my "five-o'clock shadow" at three 3pm. But only if I remember to shave at lunch time.)

One guy at work is growing a Mo, but to add a little spice to it has kept the ends of the Mo extending horizontally across the top of his cheeks towards his sideburns. Weirdest Mo I have ever seen!

Years ago, before all the "movember" stuff, my dad and one of my uncles had a moustache-growing wager. My uncle managed a little bit of wispy hair, dad wound up with handlebars.

Said Uncle never had the heart to try growing a moustache ever again.

Ahhh, no.

One day I had a true "bad hair day" - started off trying to trim my goatee evenly and wound up getting it wrong (too much off one side, try to even up the other, took too much off, tried to even up, wound up looking like an inverted triangle...) so I shaved off the beard and left the moustache.

Then I was outside working on the old TS125, getting the carbon out of the exhaust pipe. had banged it and shaken out all the loose stuff then I poured meths down it and lit it to hopefully burn off the stuff still in it. Blew down the tail end of the pipe to get some air in there and was rewarded by a loud "pop" and a perfect fireball issuing from the header end of the pipe - which was pointed back towards my face.

Burned my moustache (fortunately left me with my eyebrow and hair) and I had to shave it off as well.

Ever tried shaving while holding your breath so you don't have to smell the stench of burned hair?

I had beard and moustache already, but came to work clean-shaven on Movember 1st. I am in the process of growing a "Lemmy", which looks as stupid as it sounds.

I was queueing up at New World yesterday and the guy at the till had the same five day old Lemmy on his face. He caught mine, smiled, and then I could see the cogs turning. "Is he growing that for Movember? Would he be insulted if I suggested as much?"

Of course, he might just have been thinking about asking me out; I have that effect on weirdos.

The Mostache and Side burns can't meet - That is a beard.

Quite a few at my work are doing it, including me.
We got sent a list of rules:


1. All Mo Bro entrants to be cleanly shaven at registration - beard trimmers, Bic razors, shaving foam and hot water all available on the day!

2. Registration at 1000hrs Thursday 1st Movember 2007, Chill Out Room.

3. There is a compulsory charitable entry fee of $10 for Mo Bros.

4. Mugshots will be taken (day 1 and day 30).

5. Confirmation of your attempted look-a-like will be required.

6. Sponsorship forms available at registration.

7. Mos are not permitted to link with sideburns nor extend excessively toward the collar line (50 mm clean skin ruling). No goaties.

8. Entrants spotted by a Mo Sista as not having had a daily face shave, aside the cultivated Mo, are liable to a $5 charitable fine.

9. Register to be a Mo Sista with 'Barber Rights' at the same time as the Mo Bros - compulsory charitable entry fee of $5 for Mo Sistas.

10. Beard Bros are invited to register at anytime during Movember, indicating a minimum amount that they will be prepared to 'de-fuzz' for!
