I'm a freelance contributor for a Trailbike Adventure Magazine over the pond in Australia and I'm in the final stages of edit my first book called 'Dirtbikes and Dreams - A Poormans Adventure Touring Guide'. It's basically a starter’s guide on how to set yourself and your bike up for adventure touring. Thought I’d pop in and say G’day and check out what’s happening in the world of adventure touring in NZ. When I get it all together I'm gonna have to come over and check it all out, heard the riding pretty sweet!

The latest issue of TBAM arrived in the mailbox last week... what's your real name?

Welcome to the mad house mate. Love TBAM, one of the few mags I get regularly. So when is your book being released? Sounds like an interesting read.

Now I know why our articles we send don't get published
Cause you get paid for them :bleh:

Welcome to KB

Sounds like it could be a good book, get TBAM to send you out here in Jan, we have the Dusty Butt ride here (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=59894) and that will surely temp riders that love to ride

And also in February is the South Island Passes Ride

Good guys here in NZ (unlike our rugby team), kinda similar to yours

Cheers

Thanx for the warm welcome folks. My real names Rod and I do the camping product reviews for the mag. I'd love to be able to get over there next year but as I'm only a contributor it'd have to be under my own steam. Plan on doing it in the future though as my Pop was born in Ponsonby and I'd love to get over and see the 'ancesteral home'. Mum's been over a couple of times chasing the family tree and loves the place.
As for the book, that should be out hopefully around Xmas or just after. Just waiting on the final edit and for my cover pic to come through.
If you've got any ideas or tips, send them my way, I'm already working on the revised second edition.

Greetings + Welcome!

Great mag, I just started to re-read the first 2 issues (I will leave these to my grandchildren to auction on ebay :0)
Cant believe it came out in April 2004 - where does time go eh?

Look forward to the book, one is never too old to learn!
