Need some serious advise on what sort of motorcross boots will fit me.

Have tried a few but haven't found any that I can do up so far.
My shoe size is a 7 but I am very short and my calves are quite big.

Does anyone make a boot for (slightly) bigger girls like me? Surely there is a brand that will fit me? Had the same problem with road boots but eventually found a brand that works.

Can you recomend a shop in Auckland that has a large range so I can go and try some on?

Hi Jorja

Ive got feet like Frodo and have the same problem! try Gaernes. they are the only ones that will fit my calves with knee protectors on, try some on in the shops then get back to me for a deal if they are what you want!:Pokey:

actually they are the only brand of road boots that fit really comfortably. I didn't realise they made motorcross as well.

Biggest problem so far is the shops I have been in (about 3 or 4) don't have much in the way of boots to try on. Can you recomend some shops?

Try Red Baron. I dont use the shops much.- especially Auckland, but Red Baron seem to have a good selection. then get back to me with what you want and I will do cost plus GST and frieght. I think the guy I deal with can still get Gaerne.

this is a comman problem with people that are shorter with size 7 or 8 feet, bascally the kids boots with shorter legs go up to size 6, and the bigger botos are all to tall,

give me a pm, we have a selction in stock, and i can get gearne's in in that size if you want to try them at all at once,

cycletreads and motomail have a good selection in stock, cycletreads is generally expensive tho, and so is motomail's main shop on college hill, the 2nds shop is cheap as tho

the motormail out let is a bit of hit or miss they don't have the range, sizes and brands that they have at the main store. but its cheap for stuff like gloves and shirts.

Tried some Gaernes yester day. No luck :crybaby:

The shoe size was right but they were too narrow around the calf. Was in a shop in henderson picking up parts so figured while i was there.....
They only had about 2 sorts though

How about posting the circumference of your calf and shoe size, so those who have these sorts of boots in their shop can measure and see if it might fit.

I have a pair at home almost brand new which I could measure as well...you never know!

Jorja, lets go boot shopping! Road trip out of town...:headbang:

If all else fails, just use knee high boots they are sexy and comfy lol...

Thinking back to my early off road days, I used gumboots...but dont think the technology has changed much there...

What about steel cap industrial boots (lace ups) and wear shin guards under your riding pants?

 That's a bloody scary prospect...sorry sweet, but from memory, the shins can be an issue, but the biggest problem is with ankle support. A decent boot will stop many a broken or twisted ankle, or just bruised if you got to kick start your mount.

I don't mean to sound moralistic here, but I would strongly encourage proper gear, even if it is a bit of a pain to find. The price is way too high if things go wrong and you don't have the stuff to protect you properly.

Sorry rant over...ya know I luf ya lots!

Lol yea I know...back in my day (ooer now I feel oldish) All I wore was a helmet, and the rest was just farm clothes gumboots etc. Never worried about armour, gloves, or proper protection. And in a way I see off roading alot more safer than on road.

What about road boots, with steel plates on the tips of toes etc customised? Last time I was at Ardmore, I just used my old road crusing boots. Seemd to work ok, did get the ankle support and stability. You can get dualcross boots, road boots with moto x clip ups etc on them.

Nah you dont luv me :violin: hahahahaha

You, Old!?!?!...pfffffffttt  :girlfight:

Anyways, as far as I'm concerned, there is no good excuse for skimping on decent riding gear, ever...it has now become increasingly affordable so why do it?...personally, it is not a gamble I am prepared to take.

And I don't think that off road riding is safer by any means. You're going still quite fast, but with many more obstacles and opportunities to get spat off your bike.

I don't know much about the dualcross option. It could very well be the answer...worth checking out! :niceone:

And c'mon, you know I do...stop playing hard to get...:chase::spanking:

Yessum you are right as I learnt the hard way, when you get older you dont bounce back as fast with recovery

Jorja, if you want to borrow my stunt armour and see how that feels etc, let me know. It does fit the erm.....more bustier women :msn-wink: and looks hot!!

Get an exercise bike and try to keep your heart rate at 130-140 BPM this is good for fat burning. If you raise your heart rate higher you are building up your cardio fitness.

Or try giving Frosty a slap.....

Have arthritis in most of my joints so swimming is about the only form of exercise I can do at the moment. Have always had big calves though even when I was really skinny. Besides I want to ride NOW not in a few months time.

I know exactly what you are talking about. Used to be a size 6, still had kankles. Size 8-10ish now, still have kankles. *shrug* lol

Well am determined to be able to fit a pair of boots. Went swimming yesterday and going again today. Will see if it helps.

Was told in one bike shop by owner that he cycles and has same problem as cycling makes calves bit.

Did you see the legs on some of the netball girls last night? So it is not a matter of being fit.
