had the old VFR400 round the track the other day and noticed some pretty sizeable problems. most likely carbs i think. The beast was backfiring like nothing else on down shifts (which i dont think is too bad). Additionally it occasionally just bogged down bad. wouldn't rev out past 9 and just had no power. letting off the gas and waiting fixed it. Sounded like a lack of fuel judging by the crazy sound from between my legs. blocked fuel tap maybe?? Any ideas why and solutions???

One question--Have you fitted a "cheater" box or had the rev/speed limiter removed by another means?
Could be that simmple

Both my Race NC21 & my NC30 did this & it was the rubber boot on top of the slides not sealing / been ripped & not letting the slide go up & down correctly . Check them out , plus my NC-30 had Surface-gap plugs which had done their stuff & had to be replaced .
