Well I am about head north again and I am after some suggestions on what roads I should take to get me from:
New Plymouth to Taupo to Paeroa to Wellington!

A friend is again doing the crazy 4 laps of Taupo :shit: so I am heading up to support but making a trip of it again. Last years route zip zaged through the Wiarapa and then through Vinegar Hill and up the west side of the Mountain and lake to Taupo 700km I think?

This year I am headding up to New Plymouth to visit my Gran so will leave after work Wednesday and will do the bruch and catch up :innocent: and then hit the road! So I am after suggestions to get from New Plymouth to Taupo.

Then I am headding to Paeroa and open for suggestion on roads to get there! I hear the Coromandal is good so time given should I head straigth there and play in the Coromandal and then pop back to Paeroa???

The trip home may be boring main roads depending on the effect from 30 hours doing loops of the lake at 30kph.

And I have read the luggage thread and don't plan taking much but Jim2 cell phone and credit card are already ticked off! After last years explosion I am not bothering with the tyre panda crap so I was wondering are those tyre repair kits any good, any brands I should avoid... and is it worth it or should I just not bother and just renew my AA card???

Thanks in advance!

(PS This is in touring so I think the posts count!!!:headbang:)

SH3 to 8 mile junction (SH4) either straight through to Taumaranui then Turangi/Taupo east side of lake...or Taumaranui to west side of lake....or turn off SH4 and through to SH30, thence to Taupo via Whakamaru.
Taupo to Paeroa via SH5 to Rotorua - Ngongataha - Pyes Pa - (Coro loop) - Waihi gorge - Paeroa

I keep hearing about the coro loop but being in the south never worked it out where it exactly is!

Right That is a cool feature that will help me sort out this trip I tried mapmyride.com but that looks heaps better.

I though the coro loop would be around the peninusula but I like the look of that now!

It is around the peninsula, that link is the bottom of the loop. The bit from Whangamata is mint ...but alas the only bit I've done. The rest is supposed to be awesome.

It is indeed and I will be there over the weekend. Sadly, in the car so I'll be frothing at the mouth watching the bikes come down the Coro Hill and wishing I was out there.

Enjoy your trip, Freakshow and be safe:rockon:. The forecast is great.:sunny:

Good choices. If you choose Option A note that there are two roads off to the left on SH4...the first one forms a triangle with the second one which takes you through to SH30. Neither of them are a problem but both are easy to miss when coming from 8 Mile Junction.

 I spend yesterday arvo cleaning the bike and it was looking real good. Until the side stand had moved into the drive way enough that the bike toppled over!:crybaby:

So damage is a few scratches in the fairing but they should clean up yay.

The problem lies with the broken indicators and the bend clutch handle.

The local bike shop (J'ville) has quoted $75 for back indicator and $20 bucks for the front lens. No idea on the clutch handle yet...

What I want to know is any suggestions on aftermarket indicators for 636's that I could get between now and Wednesday 5pm Time I need to leave.
I am going to ring around tomorrow for clutch handle and see what I can get.

Thanks in advance;)

Got a couple of Buell indicators you can have for the trip dude. Might see you on the Weds night ride.

Ah, just read you have to have by Wed 5pm. I work in Gracefield, live in Haywoods if you want to come get them.

Thanks for the offer I may have to take you up on that!!!

The broken parts are sitting across the road at Richards who is creating a temp fix from spare parts for the trip as no way of getting parts before I leave. The has mounting blocks that means standard after market parts won't fit! YAY for me. I am heading there soon to see what we do next.

Will keep you posted.
