A Kentucky biker is being lauded after his swift action prevented a robbery.

Mike Eversole, in Daytona for the annual “Biketoberfest” heard a hotel clerk screaming. Spotting a thief running from the hotel, Eversole gave chase, forced him back into the hotel and held him down on a couch until the police could arrive.

The thief, Justin McQuartars, who had stolen US$ 163 from the front desk cashier, had said he was armed, but police found no evidence of firearms. This was McQuartars second robbery in 24 hours. The night before he had held up a fast food establishment, again claiming to have a gun.

Did Eversole give chase on his bike, or foot? I'm guessing he held the guy on the couch by hand though, would be VERY impressive if he did it with his front wheel!

Is "Biketoberfest” where they drink lots of beer then go for a ride?

Not really a good idea to try riding with lots of beer inside you at Daytona!

"Biketoberfest" is a bit of a year end fun thing - sort of a baby Winter version of Bike Week (http://www.bobpickett.co.uk/bkit/daytona.htm), which is held in March, just before "Spring Break" when all the students invade.

Come to think of it, it would make for an 'interesting' couple of weeks - Bike Week then Spring Break. Though you would need two very separate sets of clothing...

Try that here, you'd get arrested for assaulting the thief, and the thief would get a big payout from ACC for hurt feelings. :angry2: :angry2:

Clearly you are using the same political model as we do then...
