Hi.

I am looking for a NZ supplier that supplies Acme Screws.(The Imperial kind)
(spec : 1/2" 10 ). Its for a CNC project I am working on.

They go for dirt cheap in the US. (US$5 for about a meter)

http://www.linearmotion.co.nz sell the metric type for about NZ$100 a meter.
(Crazy I say!!!)

Anybody know where I can get some? (for under NZ$100)

Thanks.

How accurate do you need it? Papakura ENgineering stock it alsong with the nuts, but I am not sure what pitch. I had some which I used to fix a small bench vice years ago.
I bought a 3' length from McMasterCarr in the US of 4140, LH thread precision ground for fixing a lathe leadscrew. It was around $NZ100 at the time.

Thanks Geoffm!!!

I am looking for a 1/2 10 2 start acme screw or at least acme screws. Need about 3 meter. Its for a CNC table I am working on.(My foundry is almost done,by the way... :)

Yes, I talked to McMaster Carr but they don't export to individuals out side the US anymore. Found another place that ships. Costs about US$15 for 3 x 3' lengths and US$300 to get it here.(Why do I like stuff that I can't get local.)

I thought I would use 20mm threaded rod if I can't find acme screws right no,but they tend to not last very long...

(Ball screws are an option but they are freaking dear and the plasma dust is not going to help them last... LOL)

Thanks again,I will contact them and hear what they have...
