Got up this afternoon, tripped over the pile of pizza boxes and beer cans from last week, jumped on the ol ten speed and headed off to work defiantly.
:scooter:
Was thinking i shouldn't have had that xtra slice of pizza last night and was contemplating a smoke when I heard a noise, looking behind me i saw the dreaded red and blues.

Long story short $25 fine for doing 55 in a fifty zone and a friendly reminder to put me pants on before heading out the door tomorrow.

Gutted as I was about the ticket, the copa was a real sport and gave me a copy to show me mates.:2thumbsup

Wow thanks nz police for showing me that a fat man on a tenspeed doing fifty five in his undies is just as important as a man on a vtr defiantly doing 80k's!:scooter:

Cheers NZ Police you're the best!

down hill tail wind and turbo boost farts ???

I guess the only way you would know you are doing 55 on a 10speed is that you are passing cages that are doing 50... (yeah right more likely they were doing 60k) unless you had a speedo and they aren't your pants kind of speedos

I raced a Harley the other day and after some really hard riding I managed
to PASS the guy. I was riding on one of those really, really
twisting sections of the Whitianga road with no straight sections to
speak of and where most of the bends have warning signs that
say "MAX SPEED 50 KPH".

I knew if I was going to pass one of those monsters with the
big-cubic-inch motors, it would have to be a place like this where
handling and rider skill are more important than horsepower alone.

I saw the guy up ahead as I came out of one of the turns and knew I could
catch him, but it wouldn't be easy. I concentrated on my braking and
cornering. Three corners later, I was on his mudguard. Catching him
was one thing; passing him would prove to be another.

Two corners later, I pulled up next to him as we sailed down the
hill. I think he was shocked to see me next to him, as I nearly
got by him before he could recover. Next corner, same thing. I'd
manage to pull up next to him as we started to enter the corners but
when we came out he'd get on the throttle and out-power me. His
horsepower was almost too much to overcome, but this only made me
more determined than ever.

My only hope was to out-brake him. I held off squeezing the lever
until the last instant. I kept my nerve while he lost his. In an
instant I was by him. Corner after corner, I could hear the roar of
his engine as he struggled to keep up. Three more miles to go before
the road straightens out and he would pass me for good.

But now I was in the lead and he would no longer hold me back. I
stretched out my lead and by the time we reached the bottom of the
hill, he was more than a full corner behind. I could no longer see
him each time I snuck a quick look behind.

Once the road did straighten out, it seemed like it took miles
before he passed me, but it was probably just a few hundred yards. I
was no match for that kind of horsepower, but it was done. In the
tightest section of road, where bravery and skill count for more
than horsepower and money, I had passed him. Though it was
not easy, I had won the race to the bottom of the mountain and I had
preserved the proud tradition of one of the best bits of Japanese technology.

I will always remember that moment. I don't think I've ever pedalled
so hard in my life. And, some of the credit must go to Shimano Bicycles, as well.
They really make a great bike.

95% of all Harleys ever made are still on the road
the rest made it home!

Oh thanks very much guys. For about a year I've been trying to forget the image I saw of an exessively fat assed guy cycling down the road, not in undies ... but in very overstressed bike pants. (They were so stretched you could actually see his ass crack through them). Over the past year I had succeeded in getting the memory down to a vague blurry image but now it's all flooding back in all it's horror. :crybaby: I feel therapy coming on....

Plump chaps in lycra on bicycles look like coloured condoms stuffed with potatoes merrily wheeling down the road . . .

However, for the plumpishly inclined, a bike is a great idea. Means you can allow yourself an extra pizza for the effort of cycling down to Pizza Hut. Plus the return trip merits an extra ration of the beverage of your choice.

Welcome to the site!

Pics of said undies, please. Bet they were frilly pink ones and you were supposed to be in a standard regulation black g that morning. :eek5: So of course you got a ticket, you silly man.
