Hi all,
So here's the situation, I only have $2500 to play with for a first bike. I'm looking at either a Suzuki 2005 Gn 250, a 2002 Suzuki GZ250, or a 1989 Kawasaki gpx250 with only 14000km on it.
What should I do????

Go for the GPX. You'll be over the GN *very* quickly.
I started on an 88 GN, and have now bought a GSXR.

Cheers for this guys,
Went and saw the GPX250 today, good condition, and a nice guy to deal with.
The Bike doesn't have a WOF at moment, guy will get one. Do you think I should take bike in to get an inspection from a mechanic or should I go by the WOF? Bike obviously garaged very low Km's but has been off road a year.
Will being off road this long cause any major probs?
Sorry guys, but I am the definitive example of a newbie
Cheers

It's nearly 20 years old. Of course it's up to you, only you know how much riding you will be doing, and what sort of riding, and how fast you like to go, but lots of people hate the GN, as you have found. My opinion of the GN is that:
It starts really reliably, even after not riding for a few weeks in the cold Central Plateau.
It is cheap to run
It goes 100km an hour easily, last time I looked that was the speed limit!
It's a 250 cc motorbike, and all motorbikes rock.
Resale is usually good, if you get a good one that's in good nick you can probably sell it for what you paid for it, if you find you are not riding it as much as you think, and/or if the house sucks more money than you expected - which is always the case.
But you need to find what feels good, and go with your instinct.
Have fun - whatever you get will be fun!
