It is only from my phone, but here are the speeches from the steps of power.

Another huge thanks to everyone for turning up today! Here's a couple from my point of view...

And thanks Fletcher Construction for supporting our cause...

Awesome job by everyone who has had a part in organising these rides. Especially for the 'behind the scenes' work with the media and officialdom etc. Respect.

Interesting experience to be holding up traffic on the motorway - not one I'm used to and crikey people come up close behind before they get out of your lane! Hazard lights a requirement!

Anyone been passed by that many cars before?

Sorry for the initial close calls Nasty, 3 year old with large basketball in front seat and that was my first political rally and all.

Bringing up the rear of slow moving processions is something I've not practised.

Great turn out and looked to be good safe riding by all. Looked an impressive display on the motorway (even from the rear :msn-wink: ) I'm sure it got peoples attention anyway...some very lovely machines to perve at travelling at a good speed for perving too...

Will spred the word amongst my biker colleagues. There seem to be quite a few of them and yet I didn't recognise any of them there today. How do we arrange/co-ordinate petition forms again?

Anyway - thanks for the arranging the ride/drive and for letting a sympathetic 'cage driving currently retired biker' tag along.

Keep the message alive - NO New Zealander on the road is safe with these barriers installed in their current state - especially not bikers.

Col just had to get a hug in :)

I have a few photos as well that I'll post.
But something went screwy with the camera so the photos take of our arrival at Parliament are missing

...not a good idea to do this sorta thing when you're hungover and a tad tired.

Anyhoo...arrggghhhh!! It's not working. I've deleted the photos from the other thread but it won't let me upload them here now. :eek5: Help! It keeps saying "Upload Errors

If you click on your name next to your Avatar in a post it brings up a list. At the bottom it shows your attachments. You can then put links to the attachments in a post, reattach them or use the <img src=(insert URL with no brackets)> to display them in the post.

Hmmmm, the photos I deleted don't show up there. Maybe I need to give it a day or something...oh well, all should be able to view them on Flickr.

Just got back to New Plymouth after a great weekend in Wellington. Note to self - don't believe the forecast, it always rains in Welly . . .

It was fantastic of Grub and Nasty to open their home to the travellers last night, and again for lunch today, though I left for home straight after parliament.

Quite a few riders made the effort to travel for the event. I met people from Hawkes Bay and Whakatane, as well as a fellow reprobate from New Plymouth and a lovely lassie from Wanganui.

Nasty did a great job of controlling kickoff from Mana, and the lane blocking people were really efficient at getting us all out of the carpark quickly and safely. Thanks chaps!

Riding down the motorway was awesome, with bikes in front and behind as far as I could see.

I've been in a couple of big rides, including 8,000 bikes at the Perth Christmas parade (which was a lunatic asylum on the move), and the ride today has to be the best behaved and most tidily ridden ever! I felt really proud to be part of it, and it was also really noticeable that the cars having to merge in and out of our stream of bikes due to on-ramps etc were really courteous to us and to each other. I witnessed on several occasions cars in the right lane slowing down to let through cars that had merged on to the m'way and got stuck in our lane.

The fantastic speeches from Col and Yungatart were exactly right for the occasion, and MP Marion Hobbs also seemed very supportive of our cause.

I was sad to see mainly sportsbikes there, with only a handful of Harleys. Perhaps when they fall on to cheesecutters, their shiney new HD branded gear gives them immunity from slicings and mutilations. Anyway, whether riders turned up this morning or not, I'm hoping everyone made the effort to sign the petition.

Big hugs back at ya Col, you and your team did an exemplary job and you can all feel really proud. Because I'm too old and knackered to drink these days, I'm raising my mug of caffiene free tea in salute. Cheers, guys and girls!

Here is a small video clip of the final section to parliament, sorry about the quality (and I haven't done an edit) but it gives those the idea that weren't there what they missed out on

Hi guys and gals,

Can I have a couple of paragraph precis of the Wellington ride to stick up on the cheesecutter website. Any budding journos, here's your chance. Make it read like a newspaper article if you can.

PM me with the text, and I'll get it uploaded, along with some video clips, pictures, etc.

Thanks,

Dan.

You should have been going faster. As you approach the speed of light you would shrink in the direction of travel

I've stuck the video I took on YouTube. Seems real slow to load and I don't know how to post it here....but I called it 'anti-cheesecutter rally'
Since removed the video cos someone else put one up that does work
