I'm new to this sorta thing, what kinda toys are they looking for?

James Deuce
14th November 2007, 05:24
One for boys or girls. Buy something, put a label on it that can come off easily with either boy or girl and an age range it is suitable for written on it.

1 yes everyone on two wheels is welcome (is my understanding)

2 Sandbar is Next to the shell garage in Mana .. (on the southern side by the lights, can not miss it right next to the road)

3 umm sporty may be best to answer that one .. but I would not have thought there would be a limit so feel free to bring 20 toys

1. Everyone is welcome - hogs/sports/cruiser/young/old/Learner/restricted/scooters/male/female/undecided...

This is about helping the kids at xmas.

2. Sandbar is on SH1 north of Wellington. From the south it's on the left after going through Mana. From the north, It's on the right, about 4k south of the Weigh station. From the Hutt, head over SH58. At Pauatahanui roundabout, left around the inlet, right at the first roundabout. Right at the second roundabout. 1k on left. Or right at Pauatahanui roundabout, through the village, left around the inlet. At the lights, turn left and 1k on right.

3. Your choice of donated toy (or toys) Do not wrap. The Sally Army will do the wrapping.

PS.. If you want to donate an expensive toy. - please adopt me and you can give me a new bike

HI - no extra cost for pillions, infact the only cost of this event is the registration which will give you the choice of a pin or patch, if you want to obtain one of each we are asking that $10 for each - so the choice will be yours. If your pillion would like one of these then they will be asked to pay the $10 registration fee, which all funds raised from this will also be given to the Sallies in a chq on the day. If you bring along a pillion and they dont do registration - it's not an issue, the event is about all of us getting together on our bikes(no matter what make or model), having fun, being seen, and giving to the KIDS. yeah!!!!!! roll on Sunday!

Nice to see a few kids who appreciate they have a good life and get into the spirit of xmas.

Dvice or barbarellos' is good lol,my wife is worst to take into them shops, has worst sense of humour than me,especially for a guy who was buying jerk off gloves(with rubber grips) and didn't know she's there, the poor guy was being asked if he wanted lube and she said (after standing up from looking at counter at another part of shop),that'll(glove) hold the sheep but the lube will make it slippery.

Hope the weather is good, ours looks reasonable, was at the local salvation army working today, talked about the run as the captain lives opposite us,they can't wait and really like the way kids faces light up,and the fact that supplying a bbq for lunch is a small way to say thanks.:woohoo:

Who / what / where the bike show? Is at Mana or at the other end and is it just for the HOG members bikes or should I bring the camera in case a few hinterestin classics are entered??

I think the classic club lads are attending as well...

Last year there was a guy on an indian. So speed isn't a problem. We were only cruising at around 80k. There was a police escort so you wouldn't want to be hooning anyway. The whole purpose is a cruisy ride. Everyone stays in formation.
If the weather is good, I will be bring my 8 year old on the back so will be very smooth and 'slow'.

They all park up at the end of the ride at Queens Wharf. The was a few interesting bikes last year, including a couple of Indians. Turns out one of them is owned my an old shool mate of mine, he inherited it from his Dad. I remember it being parked at the back of his garage when I used to there years as a teenager.

They all park up on the Wharf under the sails outside of Chicago's. There is a roped off area where all of the classics and 'interesting' bikes park. It is the riders choice if they want to enter their bike for the 'vote'. I fully recommend bringing the camera. Just the sight of so many bikes parked up together is worth it.

Have to agree - awesome day out and well worth getting a bit 'sore' over (gettin a bit ouchy down below towards the end of the day).

Hats off to the Wellington HOG people, bloody good job! Every event of theirs we have been on are just so well organised and they always turn on food, coffee, bands etc - brilliant stuff...

Vicki and I cruised home via the Paekakareki Hill rd and just growled along quietly to our local cafe for a nice coffee / smoothie before getting home (just now) to enjoy the rest of the day - lordy lordy is there anything finer than a beautiful day and a willing bike...

It was a well organised and managed event. It was a good event to catch up with people and view nice bikes - even the Harleys. A past work colleague has just bought a 2007 Harley Street Bob. My first ride on a Harley was as pillion on her last bike.

Once a year is enough for a toy run. I enjoyed the occasion but not the ride. After the sausage did a run around the bays to finish the ride off.

The Hyosung isnt to bad 2 up, it takes a little longer to get up to speed, but the RPM's are the same at 100kph as with just me on it.

Top speed 2 up, not sure, got up to around 130 (over taking on a private test track named SH2 ;))

Top effort HOG people, and thanks for having us along. Lots of riders had soft toys strapped to their bikes but this person was doing something a bit different..

Yeah! That's the guy that went past me and a number of other bikes and cages, doing around 120, just before the Aotea off ramp. Up until that point, it had been a calm, cruisy ride. There were a number of HOG riders that went past as if their lives depended on it on that stretch. :eek5: 30m later they had to slam on the brakes as they need to get across 3 lanes to go down the off ramp.

Hey guys, thank's everyone for participating. Misssed last years run so it was my first one and so I didnt really know what to expect. Thought: " Ah well, 37 are signed up on Kiwibiker so there might be around 50 or 60 bikes"

50 or 60...yea right....Mwuuaaahahaha :)

Was impressed by the (mostly) respectfulness of others.

Looking forward to some more rides with you guys :o)

Ahh yes they seem to have spiked in popularity lately ,although they don't tempt me over <_< seen some weird combinations of rear ends off corollas and ford escorts ,but most have nice loud motors on them :bleh:

yeah mate - thats me messing with the lad in blue. Also I owe a HUGE sorry to "Hawkeye" - he had been a real gem and helped out answering peoples hows and whys leading up to the run, and some how being an "L plater" i ended up giving the lad a negitive feed back. I'd like to try and put this right, as it was a honest mistake. So to all that have been following this event and the massive support you gave it - I am a true blonde and I do apologize to "Hawkeye" - Hawkeye, so sorry bud.

Was a great ride and great weather.

I know its a bit of an ask, but I dont suppose anyone has a picture of me. Young guy, black quasimoto jacket, short hair, aviator sunglasses and a transformer soft-toy attached to my back.
I've managed to find myself in a couple of pics.
