A competent welder will know what to disconnect. Battery is a minimum.

Its always better to disconnect the battery before any type of electric welding (mig, tig, arc) the electrical spikes caused by the arcing can blow electronic units. If the battery is discinnected there is no path that the spike can use to get to the electronics

High frequency can corrupt electronic equipment pluged in or not just by being close to the source. I killed an FJ1200 that way took 3 weeks to get a new chip.
I recommend removing all ecu,s / mpu,s and any thing else with micro chips in to avoid potential disaster.Or add a toidal magnet to the loom to prevent back feeding HF noise.
hope this helps Al.
