i've got a KX125 and was wondering if anyone has any tips on sprocket ratios for me.

i currently hav a 51 tooth rear and a 13 tooth front, but they are worn out and need replacing.

i just thought i better ask around before i go back to the same old.

any tips or opinions would be much appreciated, thanks

13/51 is standard, but check out http://www.jtsprockets.com/52.0.html?&L=0&sel_uid=1319&p=this link if you change.

it depends on what you are doing, are you trail riding and need more top end? do you feel you need ot clutch it to much out of corners so would like some more pick up?
the std gearing is pretty good for all around riding, but what do you want it to do??

umm im doing a bit of everything at the moment, quite a few trails and some mx.

the top speed is fine, i hav never needed 6th on a trail ride so far. i think more pick up would be good though.

maybe then when you go and get you next sprocket set try for a 53 rear sprocket or for a cheaper option just drop the front by one tooth. if clearance allows

by changing sprocket ratios is it possible 2 get more grunt for hill climbs?

probably a stupid question..

you won't get any more grunt for hill climbs by changing sprockets.
you will be able to get up hills easyer if you go change to a larger sprocket on the back and smaller on the front, but you lose top speed.
i would go two teeth larger on the back. will be easyer on the trails and better in the tight bush

ohk, sweet.

thanks heaps for that! ill look into getting a 53 for the rear and just stay with the 13 at the front

be carefull with the 53 rear, with the KX125 when you put a 53 rear on them they wear the bottom chain guide out very quickly,

if you want my advice i would stay with std gearing,

yeah, true. i think ur right.

i suppose alot of very clever japanese people worked it out so i better not second guess them.
