Pancakes

Well I was at work today and the IT people said everythings fucked so about a minute and a half later I'm in my gear and off!
I was leaving town and was heading north-ish so I text one of the new members with a Hyosung to see if they want to come for a blat..... no reply.... sweet as. I wanted to see what condition East Coast Road was in and found it patchy with end of financial year type repairs but well run in by the locals. Very courteous drivers too. Giving me lots of room to move and pass and putting me on a good buzz. I get to Silverdale and head back towards Waitoki, down some road I don't know, find myself on a road I know etc etc. Do that for an hour or so. Decide to cruise it for a bit and head home.
On 16 heading South and get inspired and invigorated by a small pack of bucket looking bikes, race numbers on one and they're loving the day. This gets me all excited again and I go up the hill from Helensville onto old north, wiggle my way around that neck of the woods and decide to head out the way I came and back theu to Silverdale and down East Coast.
On that awesome smooth right with the rocks on the traffic island (near what I thought was a shop) were a VTR250, an SV1000, a VTR SP1 thou' and a Repsol CBR 1000. I decide to swing a U turn, get a drink at the "shop" (isn't a shop) and perve at their bikes. Just as I get to the corner they're pulling off at an easy roll with one of the bikes moving further ahead. Spur of the moment desicion and I fall in the back. If you don't feel like blasting and it's home or an easy roll I'll carry on riding!
I pass the 250 and the other two bigger bikes as they are going pretty slow and it seems like the 250 is getting sheparded (was one of their wives/girlfriends? doing some open road time practising for her test in a few days time) and I catch the SP1 waiting at a turn. Quick intro and he's happy her me to tag along, still don't know where there going but who cares?!
We take a right and I learn we're off to Warkworth. Me and the SV head out on a dream road. Not perfect but there were no mid-corner ripples. There was all kinds of stuff to keep you on your toes. Cowpoo's (wet & dry) mud, gravel but best of all soem wicked corners with a clear view right the way 'round and perfect seal all over! Wooo hooooo!
We get to Warkworth and have a coffee then head back. They decide they're going to stop at the sattelite station on the way back down but I know my wife thought I was leaving work about 2 and a half hours back now and make the call to pass the guy who was infront of me with a "beep beep" and a wave and head on down the main chute. Back down EC Rd and home to a not too unhappy wife! Yay!
I to all the bikes out today and I kinda stopped waving/nodding and just lifted my fingers off the bar after a while cos there were soooo many bikes out.
Good on everyone who got some ashphalt smell throght their clothes today! Bring on summer! I'm taking the long way home!!
