I always liked his voice. But some of the System Of A Down stuff got too messy for me.

Now he has released a solo album. And I have taken a liking to it. Have been listening to it every day for a week (between my HIM, Nightwish, Disturbed and the others). It grows on me.

Here the link that has some of the songs on it:

Enjoy

Thanks for the link man, I've been wondering whether to get the album. I'm a big fan of SOAD, got all their albums. Listening to the songs in the link, reckon I'm gonna have to buy this one now.

First listening I gave it 3/10. But the album keeps on growing on me. After one week of daily listening I am up to 8/10.

And really, that has to be a sign of a good album. How many albums have I not purchased that were 10/10 first listening. But a week later they are gathering dust...

My oldest who is a big SOAD fan recons this one is OK but sort of does not get airborne. As said I like it because there is more melodies (OK, so SOAD has that too. But often they start to believe in them self too much. My opinion anyhow)

Yep, know what you mean. I found I hardly ever listen to Hypnotize, while Steal this Album gets played regularly.
Glad to hear Serjs solo album isn't a flop.

Just heard some Muse on C4. Fuck me, where have they been all my life?

Ahh..
Nothing like the genocidal opression of minorities to bring out the creative political protestor in anyone! Go the Armenians!

Sorry for the out of context SOAD reference but: My cock is much bigger than yours, my cock can work right through the door!

I always wanted to say that, ha!

I saw HIM live in Auckland last year, great energy from Ville Vallo and band, while the guitarist was a hidden pearl of virtuosity.
Not quite up there with the Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds gig, but I'd see them again for sure. As for Serj Tankians solo album, I'll definitely check it out.

Just heard some Muse on C4. Fuck me, where have they been all my life? They've been waiting for you to discover their beauty. Listen to Butterflies And Hurricanes. It's a work of art. And Time Is Running Out. And...oh wait. All of them are! Every track is beautiful and unique. I love them.

Do NOT listen to their latest album until you've done the back catalogue.

The latest album is shit. It's Muse's equivalent of Queen's Hot Space. One good song and the rest is basically elevator music with toilet paper lyrics.

Saw Serj's first video release a couple of weeks ago. I'll be picking it up this week..

Jim, I don't believe that Black Holes is shit. It's different from the rest, but it's not shit. It shows a slightly different side of Muse, which hasn't really been revealed yet. I do agree that katman should listen to all the albums in order first though.

But, I will not force my opinion on you. Listen to it and form your own. I hope you enjoy.
The Absolution Tour DVD is amazing as well, try and get a hold of it.

Serj Tankian, isn't he the guy who blew up Alderan?

I'm not "forcing" my opinion.

It's poppy shit compared to the searing musicianship displayed on the previous albums. Soaring vocals and guitars have been replaced with droning and twanging on the latest offering and lyrically it is really weak, more Madonna then Muse.

You can tell it's shit because it's selling well and getting hyped to death.

Guys...

If I had wanted a thread about Muse I would have started one...
