Don't laught but I've got this hardcore rider buddy with a GN250. Last week we went from Hammy, via Nat Park & New Plymouth and back - 750 km in a day!!
Then a couple of days ago we went Hammy to Te Kuiti via Kawhia, Waitomo (awesome bit of road), Benneydale,Taumaruni, Kuratau, Whakamaru and Te Awamutu - just a mere 520 km. He's an awesome rider, as quick as me on the bends, but I'm a nana. Just have to let him catch up on the long hills.
My BMW F650CS is averaging 29.4 km/L - pretty good, eh?
Met up with a few other bikers, namely a posse of A Transalp, Dakar and horizontal BMW + some old boys having a leisurely ride, having a long lunch at Whakamaru.
This is what's riding's all about. Fun with buddies, some nice food stops and chatting to other bikers and still home before the missus gives me too much grief!
Spring and autumn have to be the best times of year to ride, surely.
Actually wore my chicken strips down to a previously untouched level. Some nice curves on that stretch to Kuratau. Got caught on a couple of tight bends that needed a few extra herbs to get me around. Big stuff for an old guy. I'm lovin it!!
