De-restricting Suzuki RAN 50cc

Hey all,

Bought my missus a '96 50cc Suzuki Ran scooter yesterday, its in v good condition but has an electric cut-out at 40 km which is both annoying and dangerous for her.......anyone know how the govenor works/how to remove? A red light flashes on the dash when the scooter hits 40. :oi-grr:

At a guess I would say that a snip of a wire on the CDI would fix that but I am just guessing. Seems a little silly to be restricted to 40kph. Was it a private sale?

I have never seen a cut out based solely on speed - so it may be as UberRhys said based on rpm, in which case the place to start is the CDi.

Try discoonecting the speedo and see if it still cuts out. Dont ask me how you will know if you are doing 40 though..

cheers guys yea will have a play! its actually a suzuki jog but is stickered up as a ran. gonna clear out the muffler too hopefully that gives it a bit more too!
