Cellphone bracket

Hey all,

I was thinking about making some sort of bracket that i could mount on the right hand side of the tacho on my 250rr to hold a cellphone. I thought it would be handy so i can see if ive got an incoming call, so i can pull over where possible and take action. Any ideas, or has anyone seen this done?

Also, does my bike have a steering lock and how do i engauge it?

P.s Did oil change and filter yesterday. Damn thats a lot of oil for a little motor! Was still relatively golden when it came out though, all looks well.

Turn handlebars so the wheel faces fully left. Turn ignition key anti-clockwise while pushing down on key.

Why not make another little bracket for a small screen so you can watch DVD's too.....

I made a bracket up for my bike to bike radio. Attaches to the mirror stem mounting hole.:whistle:

Most phones have an auto answer mode when used with a earphone and mic set up.

He clearly said he just wants to know if he's getting an incoming call so he can PULL OVER IF APPROPRIATE TO DO SO. I've also thought of doing this so I can see if I get a call, not to just answer it, but just to know I have a call and I can call said person back when it's safe to pull over.

Comparing a phone blinking when you have a call as a distraction being the same as a dvd on your dash is retarded, you're not looking at your cellphone 24/7 and if a lit up phone is a distraction then shit, so are my two blinking red fuel lights when I hit reserve on my bike.

Lighten the shit up you safety nazi's, not every addition on a bike is dangerous.

p.s first ride on open ride today, did maybe 110 kilometers. Didnt feel too uncomfortable. Downside is at 100kph when im doing 9k rpm, its really droney compared to doing 11k rpm. Which caught me cruising at a higher speed but all within limits ofcourse(safety nazis)

Put the cellphone on vibrate. You'll feel it. I leave mine in my inside jacket pocket and after a while you begin to recognise when it's ringing.

Then call them back.

Do you think you can pull over, get your helmet and gloves off and answer that phone before the 7th ring? First you're distracted by the flashing screen, then you're in a rush to get off the road....

I see bad things happening here. We all know what happens when you loose focus on the ride.

Mate - unless you're talking down pilotless jumbo jets or walking people through open heart surgery over that phone of yours - it's simply not worth it. Please don't do it. We like our KB'ers fully functioning.

As long as he wears full leather with gloves, boots, and back protector. He should be safe.


The RAM solution is a great idea. And if you do have to answer the phone (critical situation) you can always hook it up to a bluetooth handsfree that goes to your helmet.


If your mate has another one, you can put him/her on Vodafone best mate and voila an instant bike communication channel.

Ok ok thanks for all the info. Ive got the general kber reception, dont think we need any more comments on it.

But also relating to the bike, it has some little things on the rear behind the seat labelled helmet holder, how do you hang a helmet on them? And can you lock it on?

under the rear seat? if so just hook the strap round it and put the seat down, if its a seperate bit look for a key slot somewhere near it/on the side of the bike, one way will probably unlock the seat, the other the helmet lock

See if you cant find one of those neat little light things, that'll flash when you get a message/a call... i think they work on sensing the incoming signal like how your speakers fuzz up when you've got the cell near them and get a message :yes:

I was wondering also, (but could never muster up the courage to ask)..

I spend a lot of my time commuting on the Northern motorway and often miss my breakfast (which IS the most important meal of the day etc. :nono: ). I was wondering how to fit a toaster to my luggage rack.

I have fitted a net to the top of the toaster at home and it is successful at catching the ejected toast although I have yet to test this one on the road.

I was wondering if I could link the ejection of the toast to my kill switch (That way I would be forced to stop and have my breakfast :2thumbsup ).

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
