Picked this 1976 Honda CG125 off trademe for 800.. new wof & reg
Ive had heaps of scooters, but new to bikes.. just got a basher for summer..
I wanna know if i can take the chain guard big ugly thing off? does it serve any purpose??

yea thats the plan, ride it this summer, then make a bucket out of it over winter.. where can i get some flat handlebars btw??
so does the chain guard do anything? will taking it off cause any probs?

From memory you need a chain guard for a WOF.Replace it or cut it to look better.The guard stops oil going every where and if you have ever had a chain let go you realise why it's there.Didn't know there were any CG125's around anymore.They were a pushrod weren't they?I used to have a CB100 and would look at CG125s and think I've got an OHC...

It's a push rod motor.

yea well its off now, went and saw my uncles mate who is a mechanic at the power sport harley shop, he said its sweet to come off..
ill chuck it back on for wof tho..
getting some flat bars too.. yay

That looks way cool. I hope to get bike fo taht type in the next year or two, will just need to be a 400 ish to handle me... lol

You could fit anything else for WOF purposes - just look around at the wreckers, or cut the standard one down, or make one out of sheet aluminium bent/cut to fit. As long as it covers the top and outside of the top of the chain, you're sweet.
