View Full Version : Wanker in a stationwagon uses car to touch me up

This morning I was coming along the Nelson St offramp, traffic was stopped along the single lane width portion so I filtered forward along the right hand side of the cars. Had to stop as this guy was over the lane line and there wasn't enough room to get by.
Anyway I was in front of this dark blue station wagon who didn't look too happy about me having been able to filter in front of him. Whilst sitting there stationary this guy is edging forward on me, so think to myself what a cock he is as he edged his nose right beside my leg.
Traffic starts to move off and I'm ahead of this car, he then accelerates on the inside of me to keep trapped against the barrier and gives me a "squeeze" eg moves his car across on me and squashes my leg in to the side of my bike. As he moves back off of me I put the boot in to his drivers door and moved to filter the traffic. This guy decides he will now try and ram me in the arse. I jump into the middle of the lanes and split through to get out of his way.
Only injury is a sore leg from it being pinned in to the side of my bike, slight limp but I'm sure it will wear off.
Can't understand why a cage thinks that a motorbike filtering is going to cost him precious time in his commute!

Man, glad you are okay from that! Assault with a MV even :oi-grr: If that idiot was game enough to do that, must be a low-life or someone who had a brain fart.
Unfortunate you couldn't get his plate details, but I guess survival and discretion is the better part! The thing is, will he try it on again with other bikers?

A mate of mine back in London had a similar issue the other day. Here's his post on a motoring forum of how he dealt with it:

There seem to be a lot of bikers suffering these idiots of late. Cities seem to attract this sort of jealous bad tempered car drivers throughout the world, unfortunately. Follow them and hurt them, I say.

WHAT!? Line Splittings illegal... I thought 'Undertaking' was illegal. Or for those cages that like dusting up people on bikes, who pass them legally on the right, I'm fairly sure this is totally within the limits of the law.
I hope you come across the GERK again, and rip his wing mirrors off, while your keying his car with a nice piece of 30mm steel!

Passing on the right within the lane prior to this.
Besides I was stationary in front of him for 90 seconds or so waiting for the traffic to move so its not as though he could say I was lane splitting and he didn't see me. I was directly in front of him as we moved off

I've often thought it would be great to have a surreptitious knee-mounted spray can, so you can ride politely away without exacerbating the situation, but still feel good about leaving a big fluorescent stripe down the side of the cage to warn other bikers.

I'm afraid I have *some* sympathy with irate drivers. This city commuting is all new for me, it's been a month now and the behaviour of bike commuters appalls me! I don'tr blame drivers for getting fucked off with bikes at all.
We watched a guy tonight splitting traffic that was doing 90. Then he did some lane-swapping and weaving and then for good measure just in case they weren't royally pissed of already, he used the emergency stopping lane as his own private 110kmh road! The only good part is that he was only wearing sneakers and jeans so when he does come off - and he will, he'll be broken and off hte road for longer.
Yeah yeah, not everyone's like that but *every* day we see at least one, usually three or more, doing much the same.
So before we start casting stones ....

Yeah, agreed. But some things are socially acceptable and some are not. I sometimes think I'd like to have a gun in my tankbag, but being caught doing that would cause the sky to fall. A huge commotion.
Killing people with cars has become the new national sport (and you have to admit we're currently doing better at that than rugby). The judges make that appear acceptable though, and it seems the politicians don't give a shit.
Never mind there's an election next year.

i 3rd lane down the western motorway onto the northern motorway every day for work. I don't understand why some wallies keep moving over so you can't go past. Obviously they feel threatened in some way. It's not like i'm taking their place, i'm just not stupid enough to spend an hour or more sitting in a cage each way. Having said that, some cages are really considerate - one almost hit the concrete barrier in his hurry to move over for me the other morn.

Is that the one where the 18yr old girl pulled out in front of me while I was doing somewhere between 70/80Km/h in a 100 zone writing off my bike, putting me in hospital with 9 pins & a titanium plate screwed to my hip for life not to mention the dislocated thumb? Or the clown bout a week or so ago that decided it was a good idea to do a 3 point turn over the other side of a hill? After braking, turning around & pulling him over which was followed by some very stern words which were met with smart ass comments which were in turn met with the promise of a severe beating if he didn't STFU, pull his head in & piss off. There is little excuse for such retarded behaviour such as that & it must be met with some sort of action, simply riding off & saying "gee that was close" just isn't good enough in my books, that moron would of thought nothing of it otherwise & is doomed to repeat it unless you let him know it is unacceptable. You will be pleased to know I do differentiate between a clown having a brain fart & doing something silly to intentionally using his vehicle as a deadly weapon hence I stand by my prior statement he either needs to be reported or my personal preference would be to Kevlar slap him...........hard.
Again..........too hard nosed? Maybe for some, but if someone wants to intentionally harm me then he wont A) ever do it to me again or B).....(the most important part) EVER do it again to ANYONE ELSE :oi-grr:

There's a fine line between deliberate act and an accident.
I was having a good yarn to Mike from NZbikerentrals about people's attitude towards bikers and bike thefts in South Africa seeing he's from there. Well, he simply put it, yo never mess with a motorcyclist in SA or you're fucked because there's so many bike postie/courier boys and if they spot you, they'll take you down.
At Auckland Uni we had a string of bike thefts and have implemented a txt-bash scheme among our club members. Maybe it's a good time to it cross it over here.

Before I arrived in NZ, I never had any preconceptions, justified or not, about any one race's ability to drive. Sure, you watch out for Pakistani taxi drivers down the Oxford Road in Manchester late at night (they're usually pissed) and you should always be wary of drivers in hats, but other than that, nothing.
And then I got to Auckland. Never had I seen such complete incompetence before; failures to look and observe, chronic indecision, appalling lane discipline, a complete inability to make any form of reasonable progress ... and I slowly began to notice a pattern in the ethnic origins of the worst drivers. The ones completely oblivious to anything outside of their own cage, and the ones who simply had no idea what they were doing: predominantly asian. The ones driving Mazda Bongo Wagons (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/member.php?u=188) at speeds more suited to an ox-cart: predominantly Pacific Islanders.
My opinions are born from observation and my own experience. Sure, my own experience does not necessarily reflect the population as a whole but consider this: the majority of stereotypes develop because the trait that's the subject of the stereotype is usually predominant within a particular group. Does that mean I'm racist? Or is that I've just developed an opinion based upon a genuine set of observations?
As for your question "What has race to do with any of that?". Because of the driving behaviour exhibited a reasonable proportion of this particular ethnic group, such behaviour might be considered by them to be reasonable or acceptable. Like the stupid bint I saw reversing up a motorway on-ramp the other day, or the equally stupid bint I was in my cage behind when she tried to join the motorway doing a whole 35 kph.
Asian drivers do not have an exclusive hold on bad, stupid, illogical, discourteous, dangerous or downright incompetent driving. But they certainly seem to be very over-represented in the total of such incidences.

SNAP!!! I've also, in my short time here, noticed an underlying aggression and discourteousness on the roads which appears to general and across the board.

Move to Taranaki!!
The drivers are a pretty courteous bunch down here, but then a whole crowd of us bikers make a point to acknowledge any movings over or other nice behaviours by giving a toot and a wave - perhaps that goodwill is filtering through?
Or perhaps we're just a bit more laid back here. We've got our share of idiots and fucktards for sure, but riding out over the weekend it was really noticable how "friendly" the cars were.
Lotsa kids waving madly as we were passing, they luvvit when you toot or wave back.
Lived in Brisbane and commuting there was OK. Auckland seems incredibly hostile to bikes by comparison.

Last time it happened to me was a few weeks ago (a cage doing something extremely stupid putting my life @ risk) I turn around, pulled him over & gave him the ear bashing off his life, I went off at the guy. It was unintentional but none the less extremely stupid, had it been intentional I would of pulled the clown out of his car & beat him senseless, kick his door & smashed a wing mirror or two & leave him to have a wee think about his actions. I bet after that he wouldn't EVER mess with a bike again. And hey, if that resulted in an assault charge on me then so be it, hopefully it made the news or at least the paper so others dickhead cagers will see what happened. But im fucked if im going to do nothing (as the clown found out last night who was kicking my flatmates HSV, we gave chase, gave him the bash then called the cops & they were pleased we laid into him).
Obviously you would get away from the immediate danger but it wouldn't be hard to move over to the shoulder further up & wait for him, we are talking about the motorway rush hour hear. But hey if that isn't your cup of tea cup cake then at least get the persons plate & talk to a witness or two, get there details & go straight to a cop shop & pay a complaint about a cager using his car with intent to cause grevious bodily harm or even murder, you think they will ignore that? Because that is the reality you fucking dick. You say you have balls but its pretty obvious you need to strap them on? To simply high tail it out of there & thank the lord ol mighty your safe is pathetic.
And hey, im not the only one in this thread who would do what ive suggested & im far from alone from other bikers taking this type of behaviour seriously, I lived in Auckland for 10 years & have seen my fair share of bikers going off @ cagers & a few beatings.

Bless your cotton socks - i feel like I'm an alien for getting mad at being roughed up by crazy motorists while on the Gixer or the bicycle. Occasionally I get a little mad, sometimes I get a little even - cagers should learn to be nice to bikes or face the consequence. Too many fucked up incidents to list over the years, but I've done my share of re-education, and for the slow learners, the odd bit of positive reinforcement... Respect or fear, it doesn't matter...

Anyone that supports the theory that road rage will cure the problems motorcyclists face on the road has no place being on the road. Big tough guys just make the roads more dangerous for the next motorcyclist that crosses the path of the car driver that he attempted to intimidate. The road should not be turned into a fucking battleground. A disapproving wag of the finger at someone who unintentionally puts a motorcyclist in danger is far more effective than streams of verbal abuse or 'giving them the bash'. For intentional acts that endanger a motorcyclist, place it in the hands of the police - that's what they're there for.

As for your question "What has race to do with any of that?". Like the stupid bint I saw reversing up a motorway on-ramp the other day, or the equally stupid bint I was in my cage behind when she tried to join the motorway doing a whole 35 kph.
Nah, not racist... but definitely sexist!:bleh:
Gotta agree here. Kids love it, cars often move to one side, the roads are definitely not as congested, often open and alone except for other bikers...
Only thing I have noticed is that Naki drivers don't like letting you in from side streets/carparks etc in heavy traffic... Actually worse than in Auckland, but at least with Auckland driving survival skill up my sleeve, I can be pushy in the car or on the bike even....

Thanks to the mods for finally allowing my post to go through (albeit in a somewhat watered down version). It is so important for motorcyclists to understand that if the roads become a battlefield the motorcyclist will lose.

I made reference in another thread about this dick who came up on the iside and tried to force me out into oncoming traffic. Must be the time of year or he failed to crack a hard the night before. But recently I have noticed a deteriation in driving behavour.
