My and Jantar's last bike took two healthy arms: it dislocated Jantar's left shoulder and broke my right collarbone.
Two shoulder injuries inside a month,
same remote australian hospital,
probably the same doctor even!

Got any stories of cursed bikes? Bikes that just keep on hurting or breaking down or whatever?

Can't think of any that even come close to that evil Postie Bike.
An old Honda Four always broke down when I needed it the most, and an XR500 would flood and kick back when I tried to look cool starting it. (especially around German Backpacker Girls)
But that little CT sounds like the most evil.

Its the worst I've struck in a short time period, but a GT750 waterbucket I owned many moons ago spat me off twice, then threw the guy who owned it after me. Some years later I saw it at a Brass Monkey rally with further sighs of accident damage.

Did you ever find that Postie bike again Steam? And how about your gear? I hope you recovered everything.

Me old mate bought an ATV.

Cheap.

The prior owner had died in the saddle.

A head on collision with the hay forks on his tractor.

Speared him, he bled to death, all over the bike.

Bike was cursed.

I own a bike that was raced by two of NZs top road racers both of whom were killed racing motorcycles. Doesn't faze me in the slightest when I ride the bike.

Not cursed to the same extent, but I've owned two KR150's in my time and went through about 7 throttle cables between them. Luckily they always seemed to break when I was within pushing distance of a bikeshop.

Search for posts by the quandam member Ramius, and the history of his dread and accursed GSX

But be sure to only do so whilst within a pentacle , wearing garlic. And carry naked steel. The dark malevolent powers that were channeled by that bike were never birthed within this universe. Thank gods the bike was crushed before it could do any more harm (not that it dodn't do enough)

I suspect the black VFR750 was cursed - it had been crashed before I bought it, and I crashed it four more times.
Either that, or it was just very lazy and liked lying down for a kip in the middle of the road. :zzzz:
No - it wasn't just my useless riding; the bike I owned before that I had for 6 years with no problems. And apart from three silly drops at near-standstill, and writing off my first bike because I was young'n'stupid, I've been accident free.

Now THAT is cursed. Jeez! I wouldn't ride a bike that someone had died on, unless it was just because of a heart attack or something unrelated.

Yeah, I was amazed he bought it, Not that I believe the bike was actually haunted but, well, I would have rather bought a bike that the last owner didn't die a horrible death on.

And true to form, On that bike, If you hit a little bump you were thrown off,...and run over. If you went on an off camber she flipped, then rolled over you. Tires would roll off the rim 100KM into the backblocks.

When it was on sold for a dew hundred dollars a year later it was a wreck, smashed plastics, bent frame, ruined.

I would just point the finger at the owner/rider, but he has had 2 bikes since and had no issues with them, both are still mint.

I had a friend at university who was born the day before me. He also wrote off his bike the day before I wrote off my first one, and Eggs Zachary the same way: t-boned a car. (Freaky, huh?)

His bike probably was cursed, as it was a Yamaha XS650 that the previous owner was killed on.

When I was young and poor (now I am old and poor) , I used to supplement my meagre pittance of an income by buying broken or crashed bikes and fixing them, to sell for a (very small ) profit. It helped provide enough to buy an occasional week old crust of bread.

A number of the bikes I bought fixed and rode for a while had killed their previous owners. I can think of at least half a dozen or so. Never worried me, wouldn't now. I can say that getting dried baked on blood and body tissue of an exhaust is damn hard.

I always have chills when looking at a new bike...is this bike bad voodoo?....I can just imagine rocking around the summit road round by the gondola, somehow flicking to one side and being thrown off the side of the road down a 3,000,000m cliff and having the bike come to a lean against the wall with as best a smirk as a bike can muster....waiting for its next kill...

I think stephen king wrote a similar story about a killer car (although we know better...really they're all killer cars)

Had a Honda CBR600F4 I wish I never laid eyes on.
First I got rapped on price (my fault that one). When fitting Ventura Pack Rack I slipped and scrapped f*k out of tail plastics. On second trip hit unmarked road grit and lowsided into guard rail on otherside of road. Bike writen off. Had for total of 5 weeks. Jinxed bike, not sure. But not getting another Honda.

I am the curse that is brought upon poor bikes. People often remark "you crash alot". Sigh...

The current bike is more of a lemon than a curse*. Brilliant model of bike, but this example is old an things are falling apart and wearing/worn out. Brake disks, suspension bearings, fork seals, shock is leaking oil, ticking engine, creaking frame, etc. On the last bike ride I went on, everyone gathered around it to point out things wrong with it. Kinda heartbreaking.

Thinking of getting an XR650, can't get much more bullitproof and simple than that. Turned into my Dad really (he always advocated getting a nice, reliable single, but I wanted a sportsbike. Silly me).

*Edit: though my crash on it was terribly unlucky. Sign of things to come?

Someone put a curse on a bike I bought a couple years back, a GPX 750.

Paid about $2000 for it, a few days before the owner flew overseas.

I knew it needed a rear tire so sent it into the shop for a service at the same time. Ended up needing 2 tires, and $400 worth of parts and work on the brakes. Total cost $900

I went in to pick it up, had a puddle of oil under it, so, I got them to take off the plastics so we could have a look, Blown head gasket, The asshole had bunged it up with melted plastic, layers of glue, mesh, fiberglass, all along the front of the engine, just to keep the leak at bay.

So, The head has to come off, gasket kits are ordered in from Japan, takes over a month to get here, Bike had been in the shop 3 months at this point, More internal crap is found to be munted, Bill skyrockets, I now owe them over 2 grand, I say stop, I'm broke, This bike aint worth it.

I actually had to pay the bill off in installments, Bike was pushed into corner of workshop and left.

A few weeks later my old boy is out back of the shop, see's my bike, gets up them about taking so long to fix it, and tells them to get their act together.

First I know of this is when they ring me to come get the bike, and bring payment.

THANKS DAD, YOUR A CHAMP:devil2:

I get the bike back, she now owes me 5 grand, I have ridden it once.

I take her for a ride, she dies, 80KM into the back blocks.

Electric problem, The wiring is a mess, Knob ends had been splicing into it at will, and their dodgy crap had been disturbed by the recent work done on her.

Back to the shop.

Another $600.

Shes out of rego and warrant.

Near $6000 spent on the bike.

I put it on Trademe and sold it for $1400.

Went and drank many beers, and cursed myself for not spending 6 grand on a bike in the first place.

My old Turbo has a bit of a history....it was written off at 3500km, then ressurected.... I've crashed it about 5 times in 10,000km, replaced the frame and front end once, replaced the rear half of the frame again... wrote off one car with it, and a fence, and bent another car....prolly lucky it's been off the road for a while....

Might as well post a picture of the most expensive per km ridden bike I have ever owned. I would say its issues were sorted by the time I sold it, and hopefully the new owner has got some quality miles on her.

GPX-750's were a good bike in their day. Pity, you got a thoroughly abused one unfort.
That is the concern with buying bikes off TardeMe. They're not always as said in the advert....

Yeah, It was great:laugh::laugh::laugh:

The main issue is the guy I bought it from was dishonest, and I suck at inspecting bikes. My inspection usually consists of a visual from 20 feet away, and either a "nah ",or a "Hell yes, here's the cash, Im outta here".
