Howdy, I made a huge muk up when puting a new battery in my bike and connected the wrong terminals e.g + to - -to+ and now there is nothing.
I know this is a basic dumbass stuff up so be gentle, but Im not sure what has been damaged. The bike is a 1988 Gsxr 750.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx Gem1n1

there is probably a main fuse on the (+ side) close to the battery somewhere (well there has been on every bike i have owned), check that first.

Sounds silly but normally bike batteries come out of the box and are acided in the shop then they require a good charge, you might have gotten lucky and the charge the happens from the initial chemical reaction may have dissipated and now the battery is technically flat although it will read a charge on a multi meter of about 11 volts.

Try putting it on a charger for a bit, if you don't have one go get one of the Warehouse ones at about 2.5 amp output they are ideal for slow charging bike batteries.

I suspect most modern bikes should have reverse polarity protection on all the important bits and may even have low voltage cutouts on some circuity.

An as above there could be a main fusible link on the main feed from the battery to the rest of the bike.

If ya havent sorted this by now, and it wasnt a fuse, Theres a circuit breaker in the tank-rear seat area that may have popped

yup about battery needing a full charge could well be at fault... also main fuse may have blowen to, strange though you not mention sparking when fitting wrong cables to battery.(sometimes they will spark when cableleads wrong way around)..which makes it more likely that battery is flat

Has it got a kick starter? I'm sure Suzuki's still have those. They just got rid of leaf springs a couple of years back.

Don't get me started. Or on magnetos , either. I have a bike with kick start and magneto. Don't need no steenkin batteries.
