some bloody cats have decided it would be a good idea to piss in the corner of my car port. It stinks, and is really fuckin me off.

I don't really want to poison them as they are somebodys pets, but is there is there anything I could use as a deterrent?

Get some meat, thread it through some wire, and hook it up to an electric fence power box...

Cat will get a jolt, and wont come back...

This has been a success on training my dog when we had chickens as pets lol! Learnt the first time...:2thumbsup

go ask a vet, i think there is a spray you can get which'll ward them away

failing that a garden hose is a harmless way of detering them.

haha, we had a similar method for stopping the dog from doing something cant remember what it was...we eventually removed the electric maker as she saw that electric fence tape as bad...

HAHA yea My dog, every time she sees a thin wire running across a paddock or driveway on my parents lifestyle block she will not go near it...me being a meanine I make the tisk tisk noise shake the wire and she cowers lol...

Its cruel to do but they learn real quick.
Well she did eat a couple of chickens before we set up the trap lol...so something had to be done.

Sounds good, but I don't have a electric fence box.

I'm sure the hose would be a good idea to, but if I'd caught the fucker by now it would have received a size10 up the arse.

I was thinking you could prob use a household product instead of buying some fancy spray from the vets.

yeah there's bound to be some old concoction of detergent methylated spirits and rubbing salts left for 3 moons with a pinch of catnip added on the 3rd moon at midnight...but i think my example makes the effort clear....

Chuck some pepper around the area, when they sniff around to take a piss they will get up their snozes.:crybaby:They don't like that much and will go sowhere else.Used it to house train dogs and cats in the past and seemed to work.

Janola or Domestos, pretty potent smelling cleaning detergents. Dettol? might work...petrol?

Thing is (I had the same problem in my carport) once they start pissing in the corner they will continue to do so to overpower the scents which are there..

Maybe put a cardboard box in the spot where they go. I just filled up the corner with boxes and junk, seemed to work.

piss in the corner yourself

cat comes along "oh fuck, it's a 5 foot 8 bipedial who consumes too much caffine, has had sex twise in the last week and likes the colour blue"

it's amazing what a cat can tell from your urine...

spray a mix of white pepper and water along the affected area....
and door ways they wont come in and bleach where they are pissing it removes the smell and desire to mark territory....

alternatively fill a water pistol up with cajun pepper and spray it up their ass they wont be back in a hurry...

Yeah, there's stuff you can get from the garden centre - there's one that contains citronella (really strong!) and one that contains another smelly substance, but I can't recall the chemical name - the latter is made by Masterpet. Neither are harmful, but both just deter cats (and dogs) by their smell. Both are granules that you sprinkle around the place - you'll find them both in the 'pest control' section of the garden centre. Or try your local vet if you're not near a garden centre, they generally have stuff like that too.

THE best one I've ever used tho is some green jelly-like crystals called 'Get off my garden' - same principle as the granules but just seemed to work better than anything else I've ever tried. I can't get it now we're in Wellington - only ever saw it in Auckland.

I've also heard that a bucket of weak ammonia solution placed in the offending area works quite well at keeping cats away - but that's an unpleasant smell and although cheaper, is probably more dangerous and more difficult to use (being liquid rather than solid).

(and just cos I have cats and love cats doesn't mean I want them running rampant over the gardens! I have a veggie plot I'm fiercely defending at the moment! It's a battle between me and George the tabby! LOL)

We have the same problem in our garage. But it isn't just there. They come into the house looking for food.

Was away last Christmas and came home to find they had been spraying in the lounge. Took weeks to get rid of the small.
Have 3 black males that hang around and one white and black. None of them is owning up to the following pics :buggerd:

You can get pet deterrent spray from the supermarket. It costs about $11 and seems to do the job.

I had (actually, still have) a similar problem (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=31706).

I tried this (http://www.connovation.co.nz/mainsite/ProductGroup.SkunkShot.html). And although it didn't work for me it might work for you.

Given that I have a nearly full tube of it in my laundry I could put it into a mailer bag and it'll be yours by the end of the week.

PM your address details if you'd like it.

Skunk shot is good - it really works.

Just remember, don't ever try to clean pet pee with any ammonia based product, cos it smells like - wait for it - pee! So they will mark that area even more.

I heard a story about some guy who spent some time living in a jungle somewhere, and had trouble with the local wildlife getting too close.

His solution was to pee around the boundary he wanted to set.

You could try that in your garage? Whether the smell would improve is another story ...

Moved into a house where one room absolutely reeked of cat piss.. lifted & threw out the carpet & went to the vets to see if they had any products that could be used on the floor boards.. got some stuff called "Hartz Help! Pet stain & Odor remover".. it completely removed the odor.. & not just masked it either! Was $20.00 (650 mls) & worth every cent! Bloody brilliant!! :Punk:

That works so does amonia. failing that "nilodour" neutralises the smell which is what makes the cat return. It is really only one cat that sprays and that prompts others to do the same. It's like pricks that tag.

well got back from a ride today, and forced out a piss of my own in the corner of the carport. It was a nice de-hydrated stinky one, so we'll see what that helps.

Would love to get a dog again, but they are shit machines and don't like carry shit in bags.

Liked the idea of eating the cat, but I'd have to catch it first, anyone got a spare trap???

Not so keen on the lion piss, as it would be hard to get, and probably stink worse.

Oh for goodness sake...

Just put orange peel of a few oranges where you dont want cats. Big chunks, cats hate it.

Thats what my parents used to do in England all through their flower beds.
