Would the bucket racing rules allow this (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Motorbikes/Motorbike-Parts/Frames-suspension-bodywork/auction-17801099.htm)?

Not on the grounds of taste. + we'd have to hose down the track.

They are a 2 stroke from memory, any missing parts would be rarer than the proverbial rocking horse sh*t in NZ.
They would probably weigh a bit as well so may not be that competitive. Built in the days when metal was steel, not this modern alloy stuff.

Would be worth a bit restored though, if you could find interest in them.

Yea yea, turn it up.

4 bikes, 3 days, 1000 miles there and back. ZXR750's rebound reservoir falls off, Pan European's mirror falls off, VFR800's headlight comes loose in it's mountings. 888 goes all the way there, sits uncovered in a field for 2 days in the pouring rain, starts first push of the buttom and runs all the way back without missing a beat.

And all at speeds exceeding 100mph. :finger:

They are the same vintage as my 250. It's very tempting but I might get shot if another 2 old ducati's turn up.

Yeah I thought if you had the passion and the patience, it could make an interesting "project". :pinch:

If I could justify it by parts compatibility with what I have I could work it but mostly they are quite different. Theres is the odd bit I could use I think but not much. Mainly switches and things.

There is a guy in Aus who is good at sourcing parts. Every year he takes a month off and goes to Italy and spends up large buying out of the local papers. He normally ships at least a container back and is known to be a bit of a source for exotic (read: weird) ducati bits.

Now THIS (http://www.trademe.co.nz/structure/auction_detail.asp?id=17825225) would make an interesting project.
Barry Sheene used one of these as his pit bike.

It's a mighty TM75.
It looks like a 1976 model but I'd restore it as a 74 as that one had the same graphics as the TM400

The buckets are starting again at Redwoods Valley.

Mum and dad used to race karts there in the late 60's and early 70's.

so you can bore it out to 110cc then ????
how often do you race out there? we used to go out every other weekend that the karters weren't there, and when they were we used to slot inbetween their race program. we used to have up to 15 bikes and as low as 5 at a time!

If you go down to Motomart they have a 100 cadet in there which are very similiar I believe.

My brother thinks it should take an A100 head ok.
I don't race buckets, I've just started doing ClassicMX ('79 XR250z).

But for some reason I can't understand I have this hankering to build an early '80s monoshock XR200 up as a motard :ride: :o
