We will meet at 12.00pm at the shell service station at the end of the North western Motorway. A 4-5 hour ride to stimulate the taste buds,
Meet up at 5.00ish Palm Springs hot pools in Parakai by 5pm for a get together. Any KB'ers with family, bring them along. This place is fully fenced and definitely family friendly.
There are 2 spa pools. One cooler pool, one deep hot pool and a kid’s paddling pool. There is an inside lounge and a huge deck area.
They are licensed till 10pm and have a full range of beer and spirits on tap.
They also have a full takeaway menu for those not wanting to barbeque.

My House in Massey will be open home on the night of the 3rd of December and the 4th of December. Anyone coming from out of town is welcome to stay here. There’s plenty of room on the floor 2 couches and 3 spare single beds.

I'll be there for the party, not sure if I'll make the ride. It'll depend what my bike is doing, and it won't know until closer to the date...

(possibly needing new tyres, chain, sprockets, but not exactly sure when. I'm hoping it'll last the next 3 weeks of uni at least...)

I will be departing from Whg 7am sharp to make the toy run. Will check Parakai for Cheap Beds as I don't like going very far after drinking.

I phoned around for alternative accomodation:

Black Petes:
Have cabins @ $20 per person or $25 if you taking your own room (no partner) they are opposite the venue.

Mineral Park Hotel:
$95 a room or $100 if you have a family.... $15 for every extra person.

There is also a hotel in the centre of Helensville called the Grand Hotel, couldn't get hold of anyone to confirm pricing.

The other 2 places still have plenty of room.

Sorry Tony - Doctors orders.... no voice does not help the matters at this stage! :disapint: Im not much use to NC30 or Cajun at this stage (sorry guys drinkies will have to be another time!!)

Okie dokie... accomodation:

For now - take Black Petes as fully booked, they will call me if anything changes, only Rider in Black will be there.

The other 2 venues are still available. There were 2 or so other motels in the area, but they are permanenelty booked out... so unless you wanna strap a tent on your back and go for the camping site, either another KB's home or the 2 places already mentioned would be best for outta towners.

Hey I'm real keen on this - I WILL TRY MY BEST to come along for the whole thing.

By the way since this is an all invited gig :grouphug: - will the run be something everyone can participate it or will you need a F1 superbike class racing license :raghead: to tag along???

If this were a car run, I would say the faster the better and bring on the twisties. But on a bike I ride like an old lady drives - cos I'm a brand spanking nooobi:baby:

So I hope you keep us young fellas in mind when organising the run.

Hi there,

How long will it take to get back from the Hot Pools to Auckland City? I'm an L-Plate rider and have a 10pm bed time.

Can someone please give me some riding times.

I've put my name down on the Calendar notice for this. There is only going to be me there (no pillion).

Has anyone offered to proved sounds to play CD/MP3 on? I see we have had offers of CD's/MP3 CD's but it does not appear that there is anything to play them on. If someone has, that's cool, but it would be a little silly if nobody has.

Am I going to feel like a plonker if I go there and don't go in the pools?

Someone usually waits at any main intersections so that none of the riders get loss. I'll need a blast after crawling along on the toy run, so don't try to keep up (I'll be looking for TS and KK, who whould have left me behind). It would be still good to see you there and there will be other riders that will be wanting to just enjoy the view and putter along (which is just as cool):2thumbsup

Thanks to Joni we have a special price to get into the venue of $6.00 per person -as long as at least 30 of us turn up. That give access to all the facilities.
Kawa kid is going to bring along a good sized barby and I've booked the barbys at the venue.

I have a request.

On this ride will there be some kind of place where we will have toilet stops and food stops?

Yeah, yeah call me a wimp. But it's not a lot of fun when you are driving and trying to keep up with others and have "something else" on your mind.

Sure you can always go to the little room before and eat a good breakfast but sometimes nature doesn't necessarily follow a schedule.

I've been on a lot of club drives as part of my car club and sometimes riding several hours on an empty stomach spoils a bit of the fun.

Especially if you like me are a guy with the appetite of a pregnant woman.

MikeL
23rd November 2004, 19:28
Most rides I've been on have had frequent stops for gas, food, coffee, toilet...

At my age fluid intake needs to be calculated against time between stops. My bike has a longer range than my bladder...

Mr Skid
23rd November 2004, 19:40
On this ride will there be some kind of place where we will have toilet stops and food stops?

No. You will have to poo and wee while riding. Have you ever seen sports racers hang off the side of the bike? Now you know why.

Yeah, yeah call me a wimp. But it's not a lot of fun when you are driving and trying to keep up with others and have "something else" on your mind.

Don't try to keep up with others. You won't enjoy the ride as much and will be more likely to make mistakes.

I've been on a lot of club drives as part of my car club and sometimes riding several hours on an empty stomach spoils a bit of the fun.

I thought the idea with cars was that you could eat and drink on the go?

As most of the small bikes get under 200km to a tank, you can expect breaks at gassers within this distance.

That sounds good mate, and saves me organising one..... Dont worry about the speeds Texemo, we wait at the intersections for the slower riders.... And JSG there are plenty of stops for gas and food (considering the average speed of some guys gets up around 100-150kmh, thats average speed) so every 200 odd kays there is a gas stop etc.... It'll prolly take about 5hrs though,'specially with some slower riders along....If your planning to go as far as Waipu, the Waipu Cove - Mangawhai Heads - Te Hana route is an awesome ride. The Slower riders could turn off at Kaiwaka (instead of going over Brynderwyn) and rejoin the ride at Mangawhai Service Station. Or we all could go to the Pizza Barn in Waipu (blood good food place that) and the riders who wanted a longer ride (with twisties) could go the Waipu Cove - Mangawhai Heads - Te Hana route, and the others could go back over the Brynderwyn and meet us at Wellsford.
Personally the less time on the Waipu/Ruakaka Straights for me the better, so I'm not kean for Waipu - Oakliegh section. The Waipu/Ruakaka Straights are Long, Straight, have heaps of Cops (have counted as much as 5 :Police: :Police: :Police: :Police: :Police: on 1 pass of those straights) = very slow and too much traffic (all the AKers trying to get to BOI's), which all adds up to dead boreing. O.k.,I think the plan'll be to go from the gasser>old north>wellsford>mangawhai>waipu, then we'll see how we're looking for time.
If it's still early we'll do the oakliegh loop(we could go over the brenderwans and to mugatoroto then go up the oakliegh rd,turn around and come back to mungatoroto>waipu then back,or if times getting tight just straight back to wellsford from munga's),if not head back down to mangawhai>wellsford>Parakai?(suggestions?)

Ant/jess/RIB,it'd be nice to do 22 or something, but it takes 45+ mins to cross auckland to get there after the run,and another hour for you guys to get back to the pools from the south end of the motorway...

Big Fresh is a shit of a place to get out of - crossing 3 lanes of traffic to get across the road. I suggested Caltex in an earlier post which will be a lot easier to get in and out of. It's about 500m (if that) away from the motorway interchange on the right hand side.

I'm in Papakura, so Manukau would work for me. Otherwise we could all meet up at the Caltex / Burger King on the Mt Wellington Highway - the other side of the motorway from Pacific Rise. There would be plenty of space for all the bikes to group and then we could all ride to BMW together.
This isn't a bad idea, all the kb groups could meet here(the caltex) at about 9.15,then hoon(oops i mean ride  ) over to bmw at 9.30....
Any southies wanna meet up for the ride in to mt welly?

HR Jnr and myself will be staying in Papatoetoe Friday night in fact Jnr is already there staying at his mates place. We will be there around 9am its been a while since I took that off ramp I'm sure I'll see the Caltex sign I'm guessing its on the Mt Wellington side of the motorway.

Frosty....what time is the westies meeting up at... to be out at Mt Wellington well before the 9.30am start.
Also where are the westies meeting at? addy required or place to meet on the motorway as the westies are spread around. :wavey:Personally I'd prefer Westgate. I should be there by 9am from Whangarei. Ant, Tiller & anyone going Sat from WHG, I suggest meeting 6:30-6:45am @ The Otaika Shopping Centre. Anyone going from Wellsford Caltex, I should be there 7:45-8am. Fridays looking flat-out for horses so I've decided to ride down Sat Morning

Westgate and Massey are back tracking for me...

How about I wait under the Te Atatu off ramp bridge... at say 8.45am and as you are coming up toot and wave and then give me enough time to get going.... and join ya's. Then we all get there with plenty of time to spare, and to buy a badge and chat etc.

Any other westie's wanna join me under the bridge? There is plenty of room under there.

Well Potatoe Salad Made, Toy Brought, Bed Booked. Need to pick up some :apint: (will do that after the ride). Have the bike to pack. Hope I sleep well tonight as I'll be on the road from 6am. Will be @ Gull Whangarei before 6:30am and will leave for AK by that time. Anyone arriving atfer 6:30 @ Gull better start looking for Ant, Jess and I on the way to AK (will not be hooning so you should catch us well before Wellsford).
Might be able to meet the East Siders @ countdown at 8:35. Will figure that out as soon as I check the map.

Is anyone bringing a CD/MP3 player?

After dropping off the bike in Glen Eden..... get back on the nor-western motorway.... and head north.... you are heading to "Helensville" so look for signs that say Helensville. Parakai is up there.... just as you get to the big intersection there is a sign which says Parakai. :spudbooge

At Westgate/Massey follow the signs to Helensville.
At the big Helensville roundabout take the straightahead/leftish road signed Parakai/Southhead (not the right hand to Helensville). Parakai is not that far from that roundabout.

cool nice to meet ya crashe, we will be leaving the trailer at kelly's place while we take the kids to rainbows end, then will pick it back up on the way out to parakai, this is all if everything goes according to plan, we have no experience with auckland traffic, so if it's too stressful we won't bother, but with luck we might get to catch up with a few of yas tomorrow night anyway

Gee a bit of backtracking for you all... remember the bike run will be happening on the southern motorway at 10am and the motorway will be shut to all cars etc at that time. Once the bikes are gone throu they will open up the motorway again...

As you come down the southern motorway you will spot the Manuakau exit which is where Rainbows end is....

Leave the trailer on Kelly's lawn right up by the house.... Kelly's lad will be there to move her car to get the bike in...
then you have to head all the way back south to rainbows end.... its a neat place to go to for the kids... just make sure that you have an auckland map to help you get back to the motorway.

Once you pick up the trailer again from Kels place... and once you find your way back to the motorway head north as directions above. :scooter:

I'm definately not coming on the ride, but I'm still coming to the party. But I'm working tomorrow and not sure if I'll make it to parakai by 5pm, or if I'll be a bit later (like maybe 6 or 7pm I am guessing).
I hope this isn't going to cause a problem.
