Hyosung GT250R CDI 3rd gear flat spot

hey ive heared that there is a wire on the cdi that you can cut to fix the flat spot in 3rd.. is this true and duz anyone know which wire if so ? :D

There are 7 different CDI versions, all having different ignition settings. But rather than change the unit, its recomended that you remove a wire from the CDI.
CDI, Brown Plug, Green/Black wire, just pluck it out and tape it back into the loom.

What is the potential damage this could cause any idea ?

Take it into your local dealer, they should be aware of the problem and under the warranty are suppose to do the repair free of charge.

no idea. spose you can always try it, and if it doesnt work put the wire back in.

Take it into the dealer you bought it from and they should replace it. I believe that they take out the korean CDI and put in an american CDI, which has different emissions(spelling) standards.

wires and plug on my cdi are brown plug green blue wires... :S think ill just take it in

Had the same problem with my Hyosung, took it to the dealer and they replaced the CDI Unit (NO CHARGE)...Under warranty - Is a common problem with the CDI units because of NZ's emmission standards..

Take it back to your dealer and they should replace it..:)

talked to the dealer (hamilton motorcycle centre) and they daid that they had never heard about it before and werent willing to replace it because as far as they were concerened it wasnt a warranty issue :S any one got any advice?

Get the names of the dealers the others have had this done through and go back and don't take no for an answer

Got sick of waiting so aftwer researching on the net and been sure i had found a matching cdi and description to my bike. I
have just removed the greem/blue wire from my cdi, there seems to be no flat spot and the bike is running fine..... except now where the falt spot was... my tacho now goes nuts as soon at it gets to about 5000rpm it starts "floating" between 5000-6500 and comes right once it gets to about 7000.... has anyone else found this problem ?

Had this same problem with mine.
took it back to the dealer I bought it from
They replaced the side stand switch and the cdi - no further problems
all under warranty...

Don't know why your dealer didn't do this...

May want to give the Mechs at TSS Motorcycles Lower HUtt - Wellington a bell, they are clued up on this issue, and sorted it for me no hassles...

They might be able to give you the good oil regarding a fix for your situation

I chopped the wire a week or so ago on my GT250 (not R version)
running great, and has a smooth climb up the revs.

yeah mines seems to run alot better (no flat spot) except the tacho going nuts where the flat spot was... :S i reconected the wire thinking it would return it to normal but it didnt... wire re conected and still no flat spot and tacho still goes nuts..... did i fry my cdi ?
