The 999 was ugly, but it had to be, nothing that replaced the 916/996/998 was ever going to be accepted by Joe Public.
I think the 1098 is stunning - Haldanes wouldn't give me a ride, and I aint never gonna buy a bike I haven't ridden.
But, depending on price, and whether I've been bad with my medications (the ones that allow me to live in normal communities), I might consider buying this one:

I'm going to upset some people here - I always prefered the 748 to the 996 - it was massively unpowered (the massively is an understatement), but they rode so well, very sharp bike.
The 848 looks good on paper, almost as much poke as a GSXR750 (134 italian horsepower - have you ever noticed how much Italians lie about performance?) - its not overweight, and if they do a S or R version, it'll have the ohlins/brembo combo.
Go on, dare you to look at it for a while without licking the screen.
Now, just got to work out how to buy one without having to go to Haldanes and signing that much dosh to get such indifferent service...
