Assuming Rossi comes to grips with the Bridgestones, and doesn't have more teething problems with pneumatic valves and whatnot, and there are no unexpected outcomes due to injury for any of the top players, then I reckon it'll be 1:Stoner, 2:Rossi and 3:Melandri.

Can't agree with you there mate. It was Rossi that collapsed (literally) in '06' when Hayden (deservadly) won the title. The '07' Honda was so small he could barely sit on the fucking thing...and towards the end of the season he was charging when the bike got some much needed improvements. I was at Phillip Island...and if wasn't for the fact his bike sucked a kumara...he was doin the bizz. He'll bounce back.

At least he didn't winge and whine like Mr Rossi did the whole year!

Rossi did something about it and changed tyre brand. He is not scared of taking risks IE moving from a sweet ride with Honda to a less compettitive M1 . 2cents

Stoners on a roll and isn't going to stop anytime soon. Rossi is back on tyres that are competitive (unless Michelin pull their finger, head and foot out of their arse and come up with truely outstanding tyres next season) and not happy about not being on top.

I always like to throw in an outsider. Besides, he looks like a rider that can actually get a bike set up to get that last 0.1% out of it. There's a few new guys coming through and I'm betting it'll be 1 of them that takes that 3rd spot. Out of all of them I reckon Toseland is the most mature.

Like I've always said...how can anyone not fully admire what Rossi has acheived...legendary! But I doubt he'll ever win another Moto Gp championship. I simply think Stoner was actually riding within himself this year and still has some more to give if push comes to shove (and it will).

I think the new young guys are simply gonna take more risks to prove themselves...Rossi has nothing more to prove, and I doubt he'll wanna fuck himself trying!

Yes, I agree and the fact he never biffed it once in a race proves that. And he had a rep for biffing it.
The diff - he was riding uncompetitive machinery. This year he wasn't.

The 800s suit the young 250 boys more. Even Rossi said he preferred riding the 990s - with minimal electronics! Stoner and co. had more trouble with the 990s than the 800s.

I reckon they should do away with ALL the electronic aids and let the riders handle everything. Then, we'd see some fun with the 800s!

Don't agree.

Stoner is NOT boring. The racing was boring (although it was rivetingly exciting compared with F1!) but Stoner just did the business in an efficient, if unspectacular manner to win the MotoGP Championship - the job he's employed to do. :niceone:

It wasn't his fault the rest could not match him in '07.

Remember he is the same guy who crashed his way round the 2006 circuits on the LCR.

These are not my words: <_< <_<

In the end Stoner didn't just win the title he massacred it – winning an amazing ten races and finishing 125 points clear of the field…that's five race wins! His sulking opponents had their weasel-like faces pounded into the quagmire and then shampoo squirted in their eyes by the young Aussie. They tried to claim it was his bike and his tyres that won him the title…carefully overlooking Capirossi's results and the fact Michelin riders finished second and third.
Casey was simply the best rider by a very long margin. Get over it.

I was refering to his personality, well the one you see on television any way
F1 last year was actually a bit of a nail biter :gob: c'mon, 1 point between 1st and 2nd in the championship, good stuff seeing Kimi come from behind in the points to pip that little upstart at the post :niceone: Particularly when most of the press (british anyway) had all but written him off.

I truely think it was more a point of none of the manufacters could match Ducati but I don't for a second think Stoner does'nt deserve the championship because he does, just because he's boring does'nt mean he does'nt deserve to win. He did the business, rode the Ducati better than anyone else and he IS a great talent but it was made alot easier for him by the FACT that Ducati had it right from the start and so did Bridgestone, it was far more interesting watching Rossi push his bike and tyres to the max trying to overcome the speed advantage of the Ducati earlier in the season with the handling (Yamaha) and riding advantage (Rossi) he had.

If the bikes are closer in terms of speed I really think you'll see some holes start to appear in Stoners riding too (naturally when you push to 100%).

Nothing to "get over" as far as i'm concerned mate, it's a lot easier to win when your driving a Lamborghini Gallardo with Pirelli's on it and every one else are in mark 3 Ford Cortina's on Dunlop aquajet retread's. As for Capriossi he has only been sporadically brilliant at best and an also ran the rest of the time.
My point is we will see what he is made of when someone puts him under serious and constant pressure because no one did that last year, he may well go just fine but he may revert to sporadically fall off too. Time will tell.

Formula One, you don't have to like it mate but I do, although it's not the same without Schumacher.

OK, so Rossi and Lorenzo and Pedrobot weren't there, but the dude may surprise a few this yeah! Apparently the team are very impressed with his race pace and high work ethic, its looking good for him! (Well, better at tracks he's been to before anyway)

So what happend to King Toseland, half way through, UK circuits gone, no podium finish.

Edwards is doing well.

Hoo Hay went well for the first few races but I think he'll finish stronger. He's still recovering.

I think; Stoner - Rossi - Pedrosa - Melandri - Vermuelen, in (roughly) that order.

PS: This post will self destruct when the first round starts.

Just re-read my prediction. Not too bad with the first three and don't think I'll change that (if I could?).

But the Melandri one - I blew that, but then, so did the Ducati factory!!!! And the Vermin was a wild shot. :crybaby: :crybaby:

Rossi --- cause hes never to be disregarded
Stoner --- cause nobody else is good enough to get there.
Jimmy Mair --- cause hes better than any of them.

After falling and then restarting at the back.

Then putting in laps that were a gnats whisker slower than Stoner, all whilst his bike didn't have one of those handy things we use to shift gears!

It not the races where every thing goes well and you get max points that count in a long season, its the points you pull in when the going gets tough.

Actually if you looked closely you would have seen he was a chick twice... why does everyone assume he's gay...he used to ride a Honda but not any more... Wait til he jumps on a Suzuki :innocent:

I remember Bayliss a few years back falling off twice during a SBK race and coming back to get a 5th or a 6th I think....legendary

True, though in this case Rossi made the going tough for himself. You can't even say he fell off because he was forced to ride the bike beyond its limits. He just got impatient, is all.

As a matter of interest - how did ya calculate the points?

Hey Glen.

As a matter of interest - how did ya calculate the points?

Each member had three choices, If any of their three finished 1st, 2nd or 3rd, you would get 25,17 or 10 points respectivly (from each round).

The members that picked the same three runners will have the same points tally (if I have done my sums right !). If there is a draw at the end of the competition - then the order of the members original choice ( & how they finish in the championship) will prioritise the moro bar winner/s.

Hope that makes sense ?
