It certainly has the right kit from the get go. ie excel rims, brembo's, ohlins etc
Slightly over 200kg may work against it. But I like also. (laced rims look the part).:cool:

Yeah... hmm... umm... the off-centre shock is kinda cool. Headlight thing isn't ugly or anything, but its always going to look like something is missing though.

That shock looks the same as on the MM 9 1/2, which I was reading today lacks a progressive feel among other things.
Meh, so what, it looks cool, weight is similer to a beemer, but this has a right stonker of an engine, based on the Corsaro engine which puts out almost 140hp.
Doesn't look to pillion friendly, so the missus will have to ride her own bike I spose.

It's interesting how different eyes see the same bike -- I thought it looked very pillion-friendly: side-mounted grab handles, proper pegs at a good height (as opposed to those things fitted for munted dwarves to ride on the back of sprotsbikes), little forward-sloping rake on the squab which also appears to have a decent amount of padding.

The proof of the pudding would be the insertion of one's "missus" (checks left and right and ducks in anticipation) and the traveling of several hundred km at a decent clip.

Yep, I see your point, I'll have to see it in the metal, but the pillion seat looks short to me, certainly enough padding there though.

Different perspectives for different folks like you were saying -


.....a relatively thin 150 section, 17 inch rear tire.....

That sounds like a pretty wide tyre from my perspective (130 is an oversize tyre on the DR).

Love the headlights/fairing. V. military -- Kugelwagen-esque.

jrandom must ride this now. A better looking Multistrada, or a bike from a completely different mould?

I prefer the one they didn't go with.
The Corsacorta with the Granpasso wheels.
The styling flows more, less "In your face".

The Granpasso is similar styling to the new Tenere.

The Aprilia 750 isn't bad either but it's more of a hypermotard.

Is that an oil cooler on the Granpasso right behind the front wheel! If so that is definitely not an adventure bike.

Nope, a water cooler.
Also known as a radiator.
It's a Triumph Tiger type of adventure bike but even more suited to the less smooth stuff.

Innocent question? Is it their own engine, or is it sourced from another (perhaps Japanese) company?

Nope, it's completely their engine. They've only got the one 1200 Vtwin, so it is in all 4 of their bikes now in different states of tune, Corsaro Veloce, Corsaro, 9 1/2 and now the Granpasso.

Why do I know this? I love the Corsaro Veloce, that bike is hot.

Granted. The thing is though that a wider doesn't necessarily mean more power to the ground. It can result in more spinning than narrower tyre. This is more relevant on gravel, sand, mud etc and is due to the fact that the ground pressure of the tyre decreases i.e. same weight over a larger area. This is no where near as relevant on seal so given that many of these bikes are probably not going to see gravel the articles comment is fair enough.

Yea man, I know a narrower tyre cuts it's way in for traction, and ya may see this bike on gravel at the most, but unlikely. This bike will most likely be a long distance fast high way tourer.

+1 (never been a big fan of spoked wheels)

It does look very good. Love the design of that seat. I bet it would be quite comfy, as long as it has the correct firmness / coushyness ratio...

*And yes, this is my girly technical term for it :bleh:*

It is a quite a pleasing balance of aggressive design with sensible touches for very practical day today use.

Don't get me wrong though, I think it is a smart looking bike.

It's mounted quite high and looks to have a mesh guard in front of it.

I've never had a rock ping off the DR's oil cooler yet.

Looks like it should be in transformers with that headlight setup, other than that it looks quite practical.

My understanding is that spoked wheels are better in rough terrain than alloy - better flex, more robust and easier to repair spokes than a cracked alloy wheel.

Love the look of the Moto Morini,mmm,spoked wheels, took the Corsaro out for a few k's the other day, very nice motor, also like the look of the new Benelli DP machine !
