Welcome along to KB and what a great sounding ride you have planned (gotta love them Maungamuka's, there devine :shit:). DMNTD and I are from up these ways but moved to Tauranga last year, so unfortunately not around to join you this time. Im actually in Whangarei right now but dedicated to visiting my son so cant get away for the ride.
Send T.I.E a PM, he rides a very nice SV1000 and may be keen on a pootle.
By the way, good to hear your planning on a Busa (I read your post re Qusi gear, I'd be thinking the poor little 400 may be a tad small for you sir ). Have you got a Busa sorted? If not see the great folks at Maunders Suzuki in Whangarei, Mike, Alex and the team will definately sort you out, just say Unit sent you, they know me (boy, do the know me). Or could I tempt you to the dark side of the ZX1400? Now there's a choice worth considering, (not that Im biased or anything :shifty:)

Awesome ride up that way CBobR took me up there a while ago.... Would tag along but sadly I'd be far to slow.. And too much of a burden.. Try giving SpinFx and dnos a bell... They are both also in the kerikeri area... And there is hoodz from out matauri bay... I'm sure they'd be keen...

hmm, sounds like the whangas cruise could be a go one night after work, sure i wont take that long from Ngawha to whangarei esp. if i manage to duck out the door a little early :sweatdrop..
Oh and by the way kittie beleive me, atm im probly a lot slower on the road than you would think! Im just easing my way back to two wheels as its been a 14 year long break for me as the last time i was riding i kind of became one with a rather large pine tree. I t didnt bother the tree to much, it lost a bit of skin but it wasnt to fussed really.
Me on the other hand..
well what i will say is that after my pelvis healed, as did the other 46500 bones that broke inc. my jaw, skull and my neck... I was abble to start to learn how to walk again. So im a little careful atm..
But as the old saying goes, what dont kill me....

Thats sounds like some massive accident you had there, awesome you are back on the bikes again. After 14 years you will have noticed a lot of changes in motorcycling in general and bikes on the market etc. Now I would have to argue with you all about who holds the slow trophy. It used to belong to Mr Maha with pride, but Im sure he handed over that mantle to me when he went all Olins shocks on us  I do believe trees dont move in a hurry, good to know bones grow back eventually. The Whangarei crew are a good bunch and all ride there own race. Most importantly, enjoy your riding and the meet and greet at the destination as I always do. At least being the last to arrive I can report that everyone has made it there (and great for the fuel economy too) :2thumbsup

Heading up from Hamilton to Whangarei/Kawakawa after work tomorrow (Sunday 2nd). Have not done the trip north on my new stead, so looking forward to it. Any suggestions on a good alternative route North. I normally go out via Helensville and back onto the main road at Wellsford.
Might also do the back of Huntly through to Tuakau back onto SH1.

Ah Highway 16, watch your speed its a good revenue collector that road. Once your North of Wellsford, Kaiwaka, turn left towards Maungaturoto, carry on to Paparoa and take the Paparoa/Oakley Road (ask the locals at Paparoa if unsure). Stay on that road right to the end then right takes you back to SH1 just south of Whangarei. Well worth the detour and you can ride your own race. Good country road just watch for Hawks and tractors and you'll be fine (oh and the Gixxer G spot lurks in them there parts too)

Sounds like you had an extremely nasty accident... Good to hear your easing your way back into the riding though... :)
Umm... I'm slow slow... *is only a learner* So its nana central for me.. But I do okay.. Wayne can confirm... So if your still wanting to go for a ride at any stage (despite that factor) just send me a PM.. Have no one to ride with up here at the moment seen as my mentor decided to run away to Australia.. :weep:

Just did Kawakawa through to the Hokianga and down to Dargaville and back to Otorohanga today. Was awesome as it was the first time I had been through the forest since I was a young fulla. Had to leave the wife and kids at Opononi, they driving back tomorrow. Next time we up I would be keen to catch up with you Norflanders. Noticed a lot of cruiser type bikes around the place today.
Nice roads you got up those ways.:2thumbsup

There will be a bunch of us heading up that way on the Anniversary Weekend at the end of Jan, the ride is happening over the 3 days - 26th to the 28th.
You're very welcome to join us for part of the way or whatever suit you. To sum up we will be heading up to Wellsford then across to Dargaville via Maungatoroto, up through the Waipoura Forest, then on to Opononi then crossing at Kohukohu. A blast up the Mangamuka Gorge then staying up at Waipapakauri Ramp (Ninety Mile Beach) Day 2 involved riding up to Cape Reinga and back (maybe divert out to the Mangonui Fish Shop if time permits etc..) then day 3 we head back south via East Coast through to Paihia and then down to Whangarei, Waipu etc...
Have a look HERE (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=59856) for more details.........
