Today sadly is almost the anniversary of our beloved Uncle B's passing.

Many of us met at Avalon to see the new seat installed in memory of him and I am sure many can add comment about what a great person Bruce had been in the circle of Wellington and 'rapa KB.

BuckBuckNo1 presided over the ceremony, with Bruce's wife at his side, to remember Bruce. BB#1 did a great job of that. Out of respect I didn't take any photos then.

The ceremony was followed by a ride over the Rimutakas with a number of us going to the usual haunt Toppy's to eat.

Here's photos of today's turnout.

Photos of the seat are over on the seat thread here http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showpost.php?p=1321180&postcount=282 on this page http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=46605&page=19

Plenty of bikes in the Avalon carpark today.

Then we regrouped at Rimutex.

Still the bikes kept rolling in. LB's mate the cop I was talking about last week was up there chatting to bikers - you know the one with the "SLOWDN" number plate.

I see Lissa raced by while most of us stopped.

I didn't take any pictures at lunch time - whew they all say!!

It was good for me to catch up with guys like Jim2 and RantyDave who haven't been on the rides I've been on lately and the weather was perfect for it. Also nice that BB#1 was well and truly back with the team.

People dispersed after lunch and myself BB#1 and Bullit headed home via the East West Access Rd and Western Lake Rd and had one more quick stop at the top of the hill.

I ran into Gat the Cat and a few other bikers and snapped these last few pics. Biggles1 was talking to me at lunch about Gat's CB. Don't be fooled the bodywork says CB750F but it is actually a CB900F which he sourced some bodywork for which just happened to be off a 750.

BB#1 thought it was time to grab my camera and get a shot of me on the other side for once too.

Thanks to the Welly and 'rapa crews for remembering Bruce - we are a good bunch huh!!

Yep you're enough to put a smile on anyone's face.

You see the cool pic I got of you on the seat that I posted on the other thread?

Back to the Phoenix game huh!

Aw thanks Mr Merv, it's lovely to see so many people out in the sun riding, having fun while remembering their friend(s), it's enough to put a smile on even a grumpy bitch like me's face!:msn-wink:
What the hell is with my hand gestures, I never realised I did so much hand waving! lol

Beautiful day out there. Have to apologise for being a snob but I only went as far as Feathers cause I had other things on that day and no money for gas :(

Hey, I have my excuses and I'm sticking by them. Good to see you again, too :)

Just got back!

That's what I call a ride!

Thanks for the swap Mr Rantydave, the Speed Four has got to be in my list of all-time favourite bikes now.

Nice to see you too Merv and thanks for the photos.

I liked the sound of going to Taihape myself Jim but really couldn't spare the time yesterday. I'm away shortly for the week and will miss the Coast to Coast but after discussion last week we did wonder about a TCSMR going up as far as say Wimbledon (or Herbertville or branching off earlier at Akitio) so I'll look into that when I get back.

Cheers Merv for the writeup, sadly i was unable to attend but looks like you all did Bruce Proud. Lovely photos too mate. And great to see BBNo1 with the KBers once again.

While not officially part of the ride, it was good to meet up with some folks at The Fush. It was good to see you on a motorcycle for once too, Merv!

And the "after-match" went off pretty darned well. The all-sorts managed to get in over 500km and a bit of good old-fashioned fussing from the lovely ladies at the Hunterville tearooms. And a better-than-average steak in Palmerston North.

There are some truly great people who ride motorcycles, and days like Saturday bring out the best in them.

The picture and inscription on the seat are perfect. The loss of Bruce is a very real reminder to me that things can go wrong for even the safest and experienced of riders.

Yeah the coprorate functions and lunches in our suits were getting a bit tiresome eh!

Mrs Hitcher made a similar remark to me at the Fush and it is a shame she isn't able to make the Sunday rides, which I make occasionally, so while I ride a bit (witness the photos I keep posting) its just not usually when you two are there.

I saw him today on my ride in to work. Man, I laughed and laughed. If I'd been driving, I probably would have pulled the cellphone from my ear for ten seconds to take a picture.

;)
