I happen to test ride an 08 bking this afternoon.

This is type of bike alot of people hate the look where others love it. It has keeped mostly to same design of the concept that was first shown in 2001.

It had done the all of 5kms so i had to take it pretty easy, i clocked up about 120kms on it. I did a mix of types of roads in this short trip, with town riding, some fast back road riding with big straights, as well as fast/slow corners, and of course the mighty kamai ranges. I didn't have much time, due to not getting to dealer until 1pm, and they close at 3, and had to be back by then.

I been looking forward to riding this bike for some time.

It uses the new hayabusa motor 1340cc, it shares the same frame and a number of other items, but there is also a number of items which are different than the new hayabusa.

I got home from auckland at lunchtime today, after spending last couple of days up there at a conference. I knew motogb would have there demo bking ready this week, so i though by time i turned up saturday it would have already a couple hundred kms on the clock, but not much luck with that

Its hard to compare this bike to anything i have really ridden personally before.

Its a very big bike in more ways than one, in just its physical size, (seat height, shape and design, but also with such a big motor, i though it would feel heavy and top heavy due to its design, compined with the dry weight of 235kgs.

But getting on the thing and feeling the weight it felt really balance and low in the bike, it helps having a small fuel tank 16.5 litres, with the fuel tank being close to the middle of the bike helps with this.

First thing i was amazed with was how smooth the motor feels compared to the old hayabusa motor(being they are the same basic lump), also note could feel its so smooth due to how extermely quiet the whole bike was (motor & exhaust) this bike will be getting some two bros slip on shortly, and the clutch action felt so much nicer compared to the 04 busa i ride straight after. Motor feels very strong and feels alot more torque than an old busa, but due to it having a lower top speed the change of gearing would make it feel like that, I know of a local nz mag who has had a demo bking on a dyno and its putting out 168hp @ rw, with only 200kms on the clock.

Handling - This bike is such a big change in style of bike for me so took me a bit of time to figure out best way to moving around on the bike, and body position. and being it brand new with new tires, i took it pretty easy, it was running dunlop qulifters with a 120/70-17 front with a massive 200/50-17 rear tire. It handles far better than i though i expect it would, it is miles ahead of handling than the 04 busa, I think personally i would like some slight lower bars, to help it in more the tighter stuff, but still handled not to bad, like most suzuki sports bikes it is fitted with a steering damper as stock. which helps with the head shakes.

Brakes this is once place this bike is better than the 08 busa due to it having radial mounter calpiers, as well as a radial mounted master cylinder(lacking in the 08 busa), the breaks didn't feel the best, but they really need to be bead in before they get up how they should feel.

Being 6'2 i felt the mirrors next to useless i had to move my head down about 6" so i could acutally look out of them, had a bit of vibration but you expect that with handle bar mounted mirrors. I found the seating position very interesting, its a very big seat, but i found myself sitting at the very back of the seat, and acutally having the pillion seat sitting digging in my back(not uncomfortable), but long term i would modify the shape of the rear seat since it has a bit of a V shape in front, and i would make it flat.

So big question would i buy one? Most Defenilty
At this point in time, i am still very very keen on putting one of these in my garage, i am waiting for a bit more kms on the demo so i can take it for a really good cane to see how it feels[it shall have pipes by that stage to realyl see how the motor sounds/feels with it being freed up a bit), if it will suit my long term needs/wants in a bike.

Anyone got any more question/querys about the bike feel free to ask.

Did the missus proof read that mate?

Hell no, can't you see all the spelling mistakes. she only proof reads things when i doign some offical mod like.

Funny i made her sit on it today, she can't even touch the ground with either feet, she just sits on the seat dangling she also does not like the look of the bking in type of fashion

Im looking forward to taking this bike for a test ride, which I will do next weekend (I guess I will need to make a booking). Will give you my thoughts once I do, and it will be very interesting to compare it to the ZX14. Hopefully there are others out there who will also ride and report this interesting new Suzuki beast.

no it is not, the concept was supercharged, but that was a given it would never got in to production like that.

big cc racing in the uk do a bolt on turbo which bumps it up to 260hp @ rw, and with it just being the naked hayabusa, the yanks are already bolt turbos to them, so its not like its a hard job. espially with out fairing getting in the way

So when you said you would buy one, will it replace something in your garage? Could it be your only bike?

Saw one in Dave Andersons in Masterton... its def not my kind of bike, its MUCH wider in the tank than I thought it would be.

Yes skelstar it will replace the 600. Still in two minds if i wan to sell the 600 for one or not tho.

Riding it does not seam big, my legs didn't feel much wider than sitting on my 600.

its not really the point is it? i was hoping it would spawn a new series of turbo/superd bikes and by the time i can actually afford them, i'd have a bit of choice.

a factory turbod over 200hp jappa for under 20k, yes plz :D

Not an accusation or inference.

On Saturday I had a good freaking blast with a dude riding a black B-King.
Highly impressed how flickable he made it look in the tight stuff and no we weren't mucking around,at all.
I'll be taking Moto GB's demo out next week for a hoon

Skelstar - no real idea, but i don't buy a bike due to it having more hp than something else, I buy something i like look of, and like riding.

but i liked the look of it long before hp figures where ever talked about.

Its just so big massive in your face sorta thing, and with that it would also have it has big hp numbers, espiallying having the busa motor in it.

But saying that its a naked bike not like big hp numbers matters to much long term, since its limited to 240km/h in stock trim, and i felt the wind on the arms at speed(some of that will be not to use to a naked bike, didn't feel as bad when i was final leg of trip on it), less hp would most likley it easy to ride.

So how high is the seat on this bike exactly im not overly tall at 5ft 8 and have short legs is this bike going to be to tall for someone like myself.Does it come with ride height adjustment.

Put another 200km+ on a B-King yesterday

And tested it on a varied set of roads, from tight and technical roads, to some fast sweeping, thru some straight roads.

Had another test on the fuel, fuel light started flashing at 196km, and got up until 224km before i got to gas station. Which works out with my first rough estimate, the fuel gauage has 6 bars, and go each one of those bars is worth 40kms on average. When i fueled it up, it took 14.5 litres(the same amount the busa that traveled me took, which another interest though), so still had 2 liters in its 16.5l tank.

This bike is very very fast espially up to 200km/h, but after that speed it starts trying to tear your hands off the bars, tops fastest I saw was 230km/h on the speedo.

I found in the very tight slow stuff, it was a bit of a handful, but i think some lower bars would help with that problem, or a bit of tweaking of suspenion, but it also 60kgs heavy than my current bike, which also does not help with me riding it. Thru all other corners, its quick/stable/solid having a bike with longer wheelbase, and more weight does help in these areas.

Honstly there isn't that much wind on body as i expected on a naked bike, with the big ram air ducts, there is pretty much no wind on your legs, and at normal to tad above legal speeds, no really noticeable wind pressure, on cheast/head/arms.

Power wise - I jumped from the busa to the b-king, and you can really feel it has more get up and go, in accelration(does have lower gearing) and share HP, and to go with that, the engine/clutch/gearbox is so much smoother compared to the older bike.

It is a bike that easley can sit at 100km/h but was happy to sit at 150km/h, but could just be clicked up to 6th and cruise the open road like that, or moving and down the gearbox thru the back roads when need.

A awsome bike for real road riding, that seams to have awsome road present, whenever i came up behind cars they moved out of the way, kids/parents looking out trying to see what was.

805mm, but it is a very wide seat.

Agree there, Hitcher. Definitely very flickable in the tight/slow stuff (ie going around Evans Bay to Oriental Bay corners).
Felt very nice & tracked well.

So, agreed, that one must need some tweaking.

Well with a bit of tweaking and a bit of get use to the bike i think it would be great, but i am use to a very different bike which is also 60kgs+ lighter.

Pete at Wellington Motorcycles was trying to get me to take their one for a test ride, I figured it'd be a bad idea, odds of getting the ride done without ending up with a speeding ticket would just be too hard on a monster like that.

Phil Turnbull's in Palmerston North have a demo B-King with Yoshi's and a tail tidy, the arse end is still ugly but holly hell does it sound good!
