Tires - Dunlop D220 - Comments? (NO ARGUMENT this time plz)

Has anyone used Dunlop D220's if so comments? like pro's and con's?

and how do they compair with Pirelli sport demons if you have had both?

As I have heard they are not very sticky in the wet.

It's a question of horses for courses and they weren't suitable for the Blackbird. They're a good all round sports touring tyre with no particular weaknesses. However, the front tyre carcass construction simply wasn't strong enough for a bike with the weight and speed of the Blackbird. I got a strange wear pattern on the front tyre where the side parts of the tread wore at a high rate (the tread triangled off) and my theory was that the carcass deflected under cornering and braking. A few 'bird owners in the UK experienced similar problems. On lighter bikes with a bit lesss grunt they should be absolutely fine. Grip in the wet was no problem. I now use the Avon Azaro ST45/46 combination and personally think they're a better all round tyre than the D220.

Wifes vtr1000f came with dunlop 220 standard she got 12000kms out of them she though they were a good tire, did everything she needed to well, with out any problems

I run Pirelli on my bike always have always will they are a good all round tyre and I get a good rate of miles out of them. I ride 7 days a week and love them in the wet... Good luck :Oops: :apint:

Yea, coming from a street car prespective. Pirelli also makes the best tire, the P-Zero. And currently am using Sport demons on my bike. Just that the new bike comes with those tires hence doing my homework. :)

Had 220s on two bikes, no issues in the winter wet or the summer wet. The 220s were really good at Mainfield, lots of rolled rubber.

Went from BT020s on the FZ1 to D220s and am now trrying Continentals.

For the FZ1 and my awkward riding style the 220s work really well, the 020s were not 'stable' in the winter wet.

I have found that tyres/tires have different profiles and some may not suit your riding style. Example is that on the 020s I can scrap the pegs and have about 3mm left to the edge, with the 220s I have been to the edge without scrapping the pegs.
