View Full Version : Canterbury: Chch - KB Xmas BBQ?

Skyryder
3rd December 2007, 18:00
Early days on this one but it's that time of year again. In the past we've gone out to Spencer Park and Dangerouse has loaded up the BBQ and it's been a fine time for all.

So whatcha all think of something different. I've had hankereing to ride down to the Chequered Flag for a bit of nosh. Nothing fancy. Might get some from Timaru or further South. Just a thought.

OK Joni so it's arranged. 07 Xmas BBQ has been cancelled in place of Xmas scoff at the the Chequered Flag. (lunch? or a dinner? or Devonshire tea? Haha) I'm out the weekend of the 15 Dec so that's a no no. But I'm a democrtic type of guy, any one got an idea on a preferred date. We will go the long way, whatever way that is. So up with some ideas guys and gals.

You ask me? I've no idea. I'm only the organiser not the navigator.

Just joking. Some one will know. It's down the Rangatata way on the main highway south. So that's confirmed I'll work out a route. But what's the thoughts on time and a date??

On the main road at Rangitata, 100m north of the Geraldine turnoff.
Good place to meet other bikers, and very friendly owners. (Also bikers).

Ok guys Sat 22 December. Meet at 12.00 leave 12.30 at Burger King Moorehouse. We'll go the long way onto H/way 72 down to Geraldine and cut back to State H/way 1. Just not too sure where the turn off is so it's pot luck.

I have no idea for bookings but I doubt if you need to. So it's pansy cakes and devonshire tea in the afternoon sun.

Can someone flick this up on the calander. I have no idea how too. thanks

The route looks good but if I'm having a bad day, I'll take a short cut from Geraldine so I don't hold the rest of you up.

Are there any from south of Chch meeting up with us at the chequered Flag??? It would be good to meet some of you lot from Sth canty/nth Otago if you looking for a ride.

It's one of the reasons I've run up the 'Chequered Flag.' Usually we've had a BBQ at Spencer Park but with the recent murder there I though another venue might be the way to go and bring in some southern blood while we are at it. It's long way from Dunners and with the recent KB trip many might not want the ride but hey who knows. Oldrider's a tiger for punishment. As for the name Pansy Cake Run with a name like that no one will ask me to organise this again Ha hah lollll:love::zzzz:

Yep most know the BBKing from Wednesday meets.

Depends on how many turn up but we could get seperated with lights, traffic etc. My suggestion would be down Moorehouse, Blenhiem Rd and turn right at Curletts Rd and regroup somewhere on Yaldhurst Rd. Some might want to meet up there. Whatcha ya think?

I'll decide at the fuel stop how I'm feeling wouldn't want to hold everyone up in the best bits.

We could always meet or regroup at the Yaldhurst pub. Easy to find. For some it'll be easier to go straight to the pub.

Well this is the way I reckon it should go down:

Myself will go around to Lemans and SDUs place and leave from there
Far Queue will be doing the same (was talking to him this arvo)
The four of us will travel to the Yaldhurst pub where we will meet with everyone else (Skyryder and SpeedyGirl at this stage)
Depart for Rangitata via Geraldine, Fairlie, and Pleasant Point
I reckon we need to leave earlier, say 10:30 from Yaldhurst (ie meet at 10:00)....

We will have to be at Pit Lane at 9:00 to get SDU a new rear tire.

So we will be leaving our place at or before 8:40, so you may want to meet us at Pit Lane or at the Yaldhurst Pub.

Well not as many as I thought there would be at this ride.
So we got quality and not quantity.

Well I got up early to get a new tire on SDU bike and scrubbed it in a bit for her.
At the shop met 4 other KBers and two of which were also after tires.
Went around to Mr Sensible place to say we are now ready and Far Queue turned up.
Rushed home to tell SDU that they are coming around and better get ready.

We got to the Yaldy and it was 20 past and no one else there apart from us 4.

Then the rest of the crew turned up so there was.
Helenoftroy, SDU, Casualty, Far Queue, Mr Sensible, Skyryder and me.

A nice day for a 420km ride around the country side and did get a bit windy on the way home.

Our first stop was at Geraldine as planed for a fuel stop and a drink.

Then to the Chequered Flag and it was a nice place to go to and eat and we will go there again.

Well done Casualty your first big long ride and you did well.
A bit tired and sore now I bet, well done.:niceone:

Not much to add there, all in all a pretty good day. Had a blast from Geraldine to Fairlie.

Yes that fool in the orange car, I think young casualty may have had a problem trying to take his space on the road coming up to the roadworks on Aldwins Rd.
