hey guys and girls the last 2 weeks have been an almost killer for me on the road.
1st a blind man driving pulls right out in frount of me(he wasnt blind but must have been) hit the brakes hit hears me and stops in frount.recons he didnt see me with mu red and black dryryder on and lights in day time.
2nd comming up to a roundabout changing down looking in mirror see no cars at all, start to brake look in mirror nothing there, then all of a sudden i hear a car passing me so close i could have opend his door and slapped him but low and behold it was a cop car lights on no siren passing about 40cm from be at a speed i can only imagen.and all this with my L plate on my bike.
3rd riding home today on a 80kph zone i have 2 cars behind me,first car passes no worrys
next a white van passes me then a apple hits me on the arm.(what the fuck)
some young shit in the van hiffed it at me as they were passing.
so bugger me i follow them they turn down a few sreets till finely i cut them off and had it out with them.the driver(some old dude) says nah wasnt us,i say there was no one else and apples dont just fly around for the fun of it.
by this time some other young guys in a bet up honda(boy races) pull up and start having a go at me(what the fuck) well i was out numbered by about 12 to 1 so took down number plate and left.reported it to the cops but nothing will happen.
if you happen to be riding out near wardrenvile dunedin and you see a white van parked at the end as your heading out to brighton thats the bugger.
well thats my rant and am thinking of giving up and going back to being in a cage
just dont feel safe on the road :oi-grr:

Well - the statistics prove that the roads aren't safe - so good thing you aren't feeling like that ;)
Keep at it mate - the close calls always seems to come in groups!

Sometimes it feels like everyone is out to get you for sure! This is the time of the year that a lot of bikes come out of winter hibernation, the general car driving population are not accustomed to seeing us , so they dont see us. Take extra care out there on the roads.
As far as the apple on arm incident, that really gets me boiling mad! Anyone that throws things out of cars with scant regard for the environment (read smoke butts and fires etc) or other road users needs a damn good kicking. Hate it with a passion.
Dont give up, just have your wits about you at all times.

If I were you I wouldn't get in to the habit of chasing people down and having it out - unless you are either huge or a black belt or carrying a nice amount of handy weaponry your chances of getting seriously damaged are high. Even then it may well be they are bigger and badder than you anyway.
Memorise number plates and call the cops if you feel the need, but don't try and be the hero . . .

Fact is it isn't safe to be a motorcyclist.
It is an extremely dangerous pastime.
Maybe you'll come back to it.
rossi
4th December 2007, 16:43
well thats very true and hey it was only a apple not a boling ball but any thing hiffed at ya is a danger and could do much worse.
some just need to know how to respect anyone on the road and show due care

If you aint prepared for the "what if", then maybe riding isnt for you. Its something we all have to face now and then, but its a decision only you can make.
Everytime I take my bike out its a risk, but so is getting in my car, going out at night, or anything. I just choose to not let my life be ruined by the What ifs and be as safe as I can.

The cops do not need an address. It is a simple matter of checking the registration number which will give them all the details they require. Make a complaint of assault and see what happens. Keep following it up!

the cops know them and have been out there befor.
i am selling my bike but only as i have some money problems but i do think i willbe back...cant keep off my bike (LOVE IT)

Jesus, don't you lot have many white vans round them parts?
On a serious note - next time mate just take the plate and don't bother having it out with them, it's risky business, and will only end in tears... or handcuffs :Police:

You probably look like a target.Riding a 250 won't help or a red jacket.Buy a rifle bag to keep,I don't know,a little fishing rod in and carry that around.I bought one for my air rifle and people would rather cross the street than make eye contact when I carried that for five minutes.Crossbows can look pretty tough strapped to your back too.

My uncle was hit square in the face with a full beer can with his visor up on the highway a few months ago, broke out some teeth smashed his glasses and bloodied him pretty badly. He didn't bin it either somehow :gob:
2 cars back was a copper thankfully, who took off and caught the pricks. :Police:

"Sqwished apple"?Motorcycling isn't for everyone. If you can't take that how are you gonna take the nurse scraping road outa ya knees and standing in front of the Judge saying your very sorry.I've read this thread feeling a bit of empathy ,but some of your spelling is starting to grate.Don't "mince" your words.

Chill on the dude he's from dunedin.
i would hate to tell you to get back on the bike and find out you came a croppa a week later. It is a risk, you need to make sure you are prepared to take the risk....even if that means taking a hard look at what you can do to be more aware of the c*&#s out there and avoiding them.
I've had a few instances this year where i've questioned the sanity of riding. But i saddled up on sunday after a few weeks off the bike and remembered why i do it.
good luck whatever road you take.
pees out.

But for everything you gain in life a price is paid.Hard yards and all that.If you have tried and failed, fair enough, but at some stage perserversance pays off.Life throws some challenges your way sometimes and the way you handle that is the mark of a man.Let him go back to his car.

If your getting this upset over an apple core then perhaps riding motorcycles is not your thing? I've had plenty of things hit me, worst was a live ciggie butt that went into my open helmet thanks to the cager in frount of me.
The fact generally is that the sort of people that do these things do not really care about others and chasing them down is more likely going to get you more problems than what its worth. The roads are dangerous to be on, be it on a bike through to a truck. It was not that long ago that some twat threw a piece on concrete (or was it a stone? I cannot remember) off one of the bridges that run over the AKL motorway. The end result was that the fellow driving underneath at the time lost his life. You either need to accept the danger or stay away and wrap yourself with cotton wool. If you feel safe in a cage, so be it. But it does not change the fact that the roads can be a dangerous place to be at times.

I am going to Dunedin tomorrow, which streets do they throw best quality apples?
Sqwished apples are a bit of a put down, you should demand higher standards.
Hey why did you leave Oamaru and go back to Dunedin?
No wonder they are throwing apples at you, they still think you are from out of town! Cheers John.

"Sqwished apple"?Motorcycling isn't for everyone.
Criusing up the HB coast, boards on the roof of the cage (fiat 132) and this XD falcon comes barrelling up behind us, fanging. As thay passed u could see the mobsters passing the big bot around having a right old time. As they swerved infront of us to pull in this meat pie comes flying from out the drivers window in a perfect elipictical arc and landed righsmack on the widscreen, totally turned inside out and abliterating any vision we had left. Mince. Hell we laughed all the way into hastings.........
Moral of the story.....expect the unexpected

Well, I was wearing my Boba Fett outfit on the Toy Run not too long ago, was funny to see cagers come next to me, occupants look across ... and the cage dropping back behind me!
Even more so on the right hand side ... when they saw the pair of hand grenades I had on the belt!
But I guess you can't be wearing a Boba Fett suit around all the time

Sorry if I seemed to poke light at your personal situation, ya gotta do what you gotta do!
You kinda left it open to chuck a bit of crap about the apples though.
Stay with the bike thoughts, what you think about generally happens, it's just about time and opportunity.
You will be back, riding the roads again. :ride: Good things take time. (cheese adds)
Hey there are some bloody nice birds (chicks) riding bikes in Dunedin, stand on the corner screaming, pick me, pick me!
You could be "their" pillion pussy, with a bit of luck, times are a changing!
You never know if you don't try.
It worked for Shrek's donkey, I think. :blip: Cheers John.
