Just found this on the Ducati site http://www.ducati.ms/forums/showthread.php?t=33662

I guess they are expensive toys and I'm only feel as though I could afford one now. Funnily enough I fit right into the major age bracket...... :(

Average age of American Ducati ST owners, based on membership of an online forum and voluntary participation in a poll. The results are hardly scientific and may or may not be representative of the universe of all Ducati owners.

The think with a ducati is that you dont just pay for a bike you pay for something that is still being put together by hand and if you buy the S version you tend to get the good stuff like brembo and ohlins

The rest of the money is for the name

You have to reach a certain age before you can tolerate the touring position of an ST. As I've said again and again I'm only comfortable when I'm on a sportsbike. Tourers and Cruisers compress my spine and hurt.

Ducatis can be cheap too though - you just have to learn not to be fussy.

Errr......not exactly. If you check the forum out you'll find bikers all over the world on it. It is vox pop but still interesting.

What requires clarification then?

You can buy a Ducati like mine for about $6,000 which isn't that expensive in the scheme of things. You should pop round and have a look at it if you get the chance.

"Wanted, grumpy pedantic old cunt" is not a job position one has ever seen formally advertised. I would dearly love to make my hobby my job...

The average age of a Guzzi owner would be not young I would think.

That can be arranged.

Stats on this site show that the average age for all motorcycle buyers in the US and Canada was 42 in 2003, up from 24 in the 1980s so the figures for Ducati wouldn't be far out. The trend in NZ seems to be about the same.
Some interesting stats on fatalities compared to age and bike types in the US.
