Hey guys just thought id post this up i was surprised no body already has.
If you havnt heard of it you must have been living in a cave over the past 5 years.
This is a must do event ive been every year for the past 3 years you get to ride somewhere compleately differnt to normal and for once it wont be raining (i hope) and even if it is there wont be enough snow on the mountain to go sking like last time.
Basicly just wanting to see who is going and inform thoses that dont know about it that they are missing a good ride worth doing.
Also it is all pre entry limited to the first 1100 riders per day so enter now if you are keen.

Mite see you there

Don't know anything about this, can anyone tell me what to expect?

How viable is it for a novice dirt-rider in his 50s to take on --- avoiding the expert sections, pootling along at the back of the field in a beginner's singlet (if necessary) and hoping for no more than to finish the course in one piece on a 35 yr old Suz PE175? Give it a go or wait for something a bit more suitable, grandad?:Playnice: But tell it like it is.

I'm keen at the moment, not sure weather to do Saturday or Sunday.
Shit I better get stuck into the DR, there are a few things that need sorting out.

Have been on this ride 3 times and its worth it. last time i went they cancelled the secound day (2 years ago) as it was just to wet and the number of people that were getting stuck. Now they limited the entries.
But its a realy good weekend away.
The PE175 will get around no worries, make sure you have good tyres on and remember to take money with you to buy petrol half way around the lap.
Ran out of gas on the main loop and about 6 kays from the end on my old KX125, and had to wait about 3 hours before dad came back around with gas for me.

yeah going to give it a go sounds bloody good, prob do both days cause they opening a new track on the sunday.
Wonder if they will have trouble with dust instead of the rain seams its being held eairler?
Danger
8th December 2007, 07:11
I'm guessing dust will be a problem with so many bikes.
Buddy L
8th December 2007, 08:01
the dust isn't to bad for the amount of bikers that are there.
Its mainly the road sections before you cut back into the foresty that have the dust,
from people going full tit along, showering everyone in stones.
For the amount of bikers that go, once you get out on the trails you realy don't see that many people, just the broken down ones lol
Danger
8th December 2007, 08:25
Depends how fast you go Buddy. If your going the same pace as everyone else you don't see many but if you are ripping along you have to pass lots of people. You catch them on the trails where its not always safe to pass, then you come out on to the gravel and like you say, they shower you with stones when they can finally open their bikes up. I usually like to slow down on the road and not spray everyone and have a drink etc and save the fast riding for the trails, but sometimes you have to grit your teeth and pass them before you hit the trails again.

8th December 2007, 15:32
i end up passing alot of people, they go hard out, for 5 mintes and then have a rest on the side of the trail for another 5. then wounder why they only get in a couple of laps.
I keep slow on the roads try and save the tyres and like you said have that all important drink.

I'm trying to organise to go with a couple of my mates at the moment, it will be an awesome ride, the tracks are second to none and because it is now in January even if it pisses down it wont be as cold as it has been in the past. with that amount of track the 1100 riders should be pretty spread out.
I cant wait.

I was looking forward to going, but it clashes with A1GP and I'm working in the pits..... Two really cool events on the same weekend...Grrrrr :argh:

They no longer do fuel half way round so you must carry your own my CR125 would normaly run out as i got to the pits if i was being nice to it along the easy sections other wise you must cary fuel with you!
Well worth the 2 day trip just for the after ride fun at night time. Lots of drunks doing burnouts all night lol. (my bike stays locked)

The last time i went i was on my cr125 and had to carry extra fuel with me as well, didn't want to run out again.
bone dry when i ggot back to the finish, was nurseing a flatty for the last 4 kays as well.
Do they still do the barrel racing? i remember a kdx200, was just too good for eveyone, untill this kid on a 85ccc came out and just carved up everyone.

hey, i was reading the website and stuff, it doesnt really say wot kind of terrain it is, just says its high alltitude stuff. i guess that means its forestry?
im really keen to go on this ride aye, so it sounds like me KX125 wouldnt make the whole loop on 1 tank!! uh oh!!
i did a ride at atiamuri a month or so ago (forestry), i think it was a 50km loop. i didnt hav any probs wif that so do u think i would be all good on the main trails here?
thanks anyway :niceone:

11th December 2007, 06:50
Yea the normaly have a trail sprint and a barrell race. I might enter them this time as they have cash to give away :niceone: just dont want to get beaten by a kid on his 85 lol.
Trails are normaly 65km long ranging from nice flowing trails in the pines to some good sandy hill climbs but depends what part of the desert the army has let them have this year and weather we cross that dam river again.
Also there are some cool places tp play in the desert dry river beds etc.

I was there on Sunday, he has changed the last part of the A track, but yeah he certainly could do more with the place.
The only way to not get bored is to ride faster!
