View Full Version : Signature picture problem...

Tried uploading a signature picture, coz I thought it was cool. Only, it doesn't show up in my signature. But, when I go to edit it, it says it's there and shows the wee image - which I've attached at the bottom.
Just thought I'd point out that it doesn't seem to work with my one, and was wondering how come and if it could be fixed? Is it because my image is an animated .gif? It does show in the Edit Signature Picture field though...
Muchos gracios
(Incidentally, it'd make a great addition to the smiley list!)

A signature is the image and or words after your post.
I have a pic I made in Paint.NET from a few images and text and a quote from a TV character. Usually signature pics are 500pixels by 100pixels but I think KB allows bigger ones. You can find how to put it in from the Quick links menu. I don't think you can upload animated gif's but regular gif or a jpg is OK. I am still a n00b to this site so don't have enough posts up (240) to have an animated avitar yet. Tha avitar is the pic beside your site name.
If you want to make up your own I recommend downloading the Paint.NET (http://www.getpaint.net/)graphics program as its FREE!!! which puts it in my price range.

I was wrong about the max size KB allows.
I see they say -
Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 300 by 70 pixels or 29.3 KB (whichever is smaller).
If you have spare cash get Adobe Photoshop and you can make your own signatures and animated gif's real easy. If you po folk like me it's a bit harder as you need to find freeware which means more work usually.

Just tried to set it as my signature pic, but I'm not allowed to upload animated gifs. Must be a feature only allowed for the cool kids...

It's a feature that is enabled after you become a senior member of KB - 240 odd posts, 120 days since signing on, and have a positive reputation.
Any progress on this matter, o wise ones? :sweatdrop

Cheers, thought that was it. Only 81... I mean 80 to go. I imagine I was closer before the Great Change In The Post Count Rules. Ah well.
Will have to post more crap... in the right forums of course!

I stuck an animated gif in my sig yesterday, and it didn't work properly. It also muntered it.
So now I'm going commando.
If only I could clean up my posts even more, like get rid of all that stuff above the message...

So either Spank or MT needs to take care of it.
I am hoping you dont presume that every post that is done on KB is read by both of them everday... as said before if you have a problem, please pm a Senior Mod, as there is a chance Spank/MT have not even seen this thread.

No, 'course I don't presume that, they're busy people. Every post on KB sure as heck isn't read by me every day! Was just keeping the thread alive, checking up, seeing if anything had happened... relax! :yeah:
I don't have any problems, this is really a minor issue that I thought the powers that be would like having brought to their attention so it can be rectified... but it doesn't bother me too much really.

I suspect that's actually some kinda optical delusion, that only gives the impression of animation.

It helps if you stand on one leg, shut your left eye, and shake your head vigorously.

Try a different browser.
I looked at it in Opera - version 8.51 - it moves in its annoying in and out way.
I looked at it in Firefox - version 2.0.0.11 - it moves in its annoying in and out way.
I looked at it in Internet Explorer 7 - it is dead, no movement, nada, zip, el morte!!!
