Motorcyclist crashes after police pursuit
A motorcyclist crashed after outspeeding two police patrols in Canterbury last night and was taken to hospital.
Inspector John Doherty, of the police southern communication centre, said police saw the motorcyclist travelling at high speed on the Old West Coast Road at about 8.30pm.
"They initiated a pursuit but lost sight of the vehicle. A short time later the motorcyclist has driven past another patrol, still travel ling at high speed," he said.
"The patrol has turned to pursue the vehicle but it was some distance ahead. A short time later the motor cyclist has lost control at the intersection of the Old West Coast Rd and State Highway 73 and crashed."
He said police did not witness the crash but came across it a short time later.
The male rider was taken to hospital, with injuries not believed to be life threatening.

That's a very tricky little S bend there. My cousin still lives in that area so i'll ask him soon what the goss is.
geez if you guys think the Canterbury plains are long and boring you aint seen nothing yet.
When I first bought the FXR I took it up to Broome about 2,600 k's north of Perth. The Sandfire Flats have a gap about 280 k's between fuel pumps & only a couple of minor bends!!! You get pretty good at riding in straight line over here.......

There was a duke 916 in a shop in NSW and its tread was so flat you could kick up the stand and with a little patience, get it to balance just on its tires. Depressing. I couldnt work out why you would own a duke in a place like that.
