It's been a while since I've gotten out and ridden with many of the good Welly folk. I've barely done any riding in the past year - since previous tragic events.
I guess I've had a major change in my outlook on motorcycles. I've really come to dislike the whole speed thing. But I can't deny that I still love the feel of cruising with the V-Twin harmony.
One thing I love about motorcycles - Is the bling factor. I miss being able to do a wee change here or there. Just milling around the workshop at home is quality time.
So I've decided it's time to get back into abit of riding. The occassional TCWNR and weekend cafe cruise around the welly bays will go down a treat.
Once again, Peter McDonald (WMCC) aka "Crasherfromwayback" has gone the extra mile and I have to thank him sincerely for my return to biking. I can't believe how good the Welly Motorcycles crew is. I had great support and assistance from Peter, Hamish, Helmut and Andre. It's no wonder I've made my fourth purchase in a row from Wellington Motorcycles.
I'm now the proud owner of a 2006 Harley 883R Sportster.
I love the sound of these machines, the comfort of the ride position and the classic racing look. A truely awesome cafe racing machine!
Truth be known, I was saving to buy a Harley Streetrod but I fell in love with the Sportster on the way and the price comparison is just the icing on the cake. Not to mention the amazing assortment of aftermarket bling available.
Don't expect to see me wearing tassles, patches or a beard.
I've never liked conforming to traditional appearances. A draggin jean, sporty jacket and full face modern helmet will always be my first choice.
Once again a great Big thanks to Wellington Motorcycles and in particular Pete McDonald. Look forward to seeing you fellow KB'ers out on the road in the near future.
I just can't wait to unleash the classic beast on those long winding South Island roads......
