we arrived 12:00pm friday after attending my work do to find a number of Kbers well primed most of them where that strange southern lot :dodge: but thats alright the canterbury rabble got big shoulders :sweatdrop:
sat morn moved from caravan into motel sweet more (room) cook breakie
then stood round a talked .... as you do while we waited for the rest to show up
while we were talking the pig (not scum dog) was made ready for the spit ie remove head & trotters so it would fit after a bit of dicking around it was on & cooking
most arrived round the same time beds found gear stowed tents set up & meet these two realy strange people :Gob smacked: even worse than the southern lot they were from the norf island & 1 ofem was a jaffa so i was told poor thing i wonder if it hurts & the other 1 was from a place that smells like bad gas  Doc & Goblin was their names mmmmmm strange :dodge:
Helenoftroy thought it would be a good idea if she moved in with us instead of putting up her tent & told us that she had soft luggage as well
very nice it was to
12:34pm we all head to Kaikoura lunch 25 bikes great site it was to then back through the inland rd  at Waiau then leader rd back to the staging post
Party time :drink: & food was the theme for the night as photos & video's will show

Geez after 2hrs sleep ,a hangover , and the heat ,I wasn't feeling the best, I quiet ride home , shower and slept the rest of the day, sorry if I buggered of early. Must have been my turn to get a nail in the tyre GSXF :argh: unpacking the bike just before, noticed back tyre half flat & a small steel tack poking out..... aleast it made it home !!.

Anyway, I better put in my 2 cents worth...if ya can find 2 cents now anyway.
I am sitting here at the PC feeling like Sh1t, and I know who to blame...The whole lot of ya!(j/k)...Had I not got involved with KB I would have spent the weekend sitting back quietly with the missus.....BUT I would not have missed this weekend for the world....was a great time, and its also good to be able to put a face on some of the stirrers from KB (Not looking at anyone in particular)...
...Well here is my recap anyway...
Friday Night was bloody busy after work...called over to Halls T/port to get the pig (Thanks Doc), then over to some stirrers place to get the sounds for the weekend...Then home for a quick bite and on the road in my trusty(read crusty) corolla to arrive up at Parnassus at approx 9pm. Did not take long to find the few that were there as they were the ones holding onto cans/bottles of booze! (there were some people at the staging post that were not related to the rabble!)
Anyways straight onto the piss and got talkin away through the night. Off to bed after a few (too many) beers. Woke up saturday with a bit of a thumper but was fine after a panadol and juice...had brekky then started thinking bout pig going on spit...either pig was too big, or spit too small! Shrek showed us his butchering skills and with a joint effort we got it sorted though to be totally fair Shrek took complete control of the situation and got the spit organised properly! You da man!
Other peeps turned up and by the arvo we were heading to Kaikoura for lunch..good to be on a bike again even just as a pillion...GB thanks for taking it easy!....Then after a quiet one we left to go to waiau...freaking fantastic road!!!Loved it
Another quiet ale then back to Parnassus. Onto the Cherry Spitting comp....Who won? And on to more serious drinking...memory starts to fade here....
Woke up this morning with more than a thumper...panadol did not cure it! You lot are a bad influence!:bash:
Shit, sorry did not mean to make a novel but must say was a fantastic weekend!
Good to meet ya all...Thanks Helen for the blast on your Beemer, and did you find your tail? (I had nothing to do with it)...

Ripper weekend, great crew to drink and talk shit with, a little less drinking would have been a good idea for me as a nurse my stove-in ribs! (who kicked me eh?).
Anyway not too much to add at this stage, most of it's been said!!
CB had to pack the bikes (while nursing a sore wrist from when she arsed-up on one of the benches) while I tried to reassemble my head and we left about 10-ish (I think).
Headed off over the Leader to Hanmer with Shrek as company for CB and I, booked a room here at the camping ground and had a loooong soak in the hot pools, helped my ribs a bit.
Off for an early night now, later guys..

Great to meet you all. it was a great spot to stay and my tent didn't leak so success all round. Rang home to let them know i was on my way but no-one was home so i turned right and headed to Kaikoura. Fuel and a quick bite to eat and then for the first time i rode the inland road North to South. Not a cloud in the sky and it just got hotter and hotter ( the crap tar was getting softer too). pushed on past Culverden and decided to stop for a drink along the Balmoral straight. Must have been 30 degrees. then as usual it got colder the closer i got to Christchurch. looking forward to next years.

hey... does anyone know how Tim is down in Timaru?
Pulled into Dunners @ 7.25pm. After visiting a mate in ChCh I met Mark (Cold Comfort) & Jack (Delphinius) filling up with Gas. We clicked off some miles and had lunch at "The Chequered Flag" Rangitata, then pressed on to Timaru to see Tim (Phaedrus) in Hospital. He was surprisingly perky considering the pain (More morphine please) and as Mark pointed out, probably a year in recuperation & Physio for a full shoulder reconstruction, BUMMER eh?
Had a nice little squirt thru Trotters Gorge (turn off just after Moeraki and come out @ Palmerston) Thanks M & J for the company.
Great W/end everybody. The night was a hoot! We will be doing this again

Tims Father has put up a web page to keep the updates... the only thing he be confuddled is BRONZ and KiwBiker...
http://www.jetz.co.nz/phaedrus.html
I have just email Tims father with the little I knew as I was riding with him at the time the email goes as follows:
Hello Jim, Dale here...
I was the one riding up with Tim, everything seemed fine and was going well, we had break and lunch Timaru
Heading North through Temuka and Winchestor and up on to the Canterbury plains which for a biker is straight and very boring but the other thing a lot of people don't know for a biker very long strights like that can be a strain on the wrists, keeping that constant speed.
I was in the lead and Tim brining up the rear. We were cruising between 100 to 105kph. Heck we had all day ti fill in and get there.
Came up on some Fontera tankers heading north, there was no traffic heading south at that moment so I indicated and cruised past both tankers not even needing to go over 105 as they were only doing 90. This was the last I saw of Tim on his bike. I looked in my mirrors to see if Tim had passed... he hadn't, by now the trucks were no longer in sight either. I slowed to wait for Tim to catch up... I had lost my shadow. I pulled over, and waited for a second, and the next odd thing that occured to me was that the Fontera trucks hadn't passed... My gut feeling wasn't good so I turned back and saw the trucks parked up and as well as some other traffic had pulled over and people gathered my head sunk, my gut churned as I instantly knew this wasn't good...
About 2 or 3 km south of Rangatata (the is a sign, but sorry I can't remember what it is Diamond shaped) this is where Tim left the road missing it by mere centermetres, through a bit of a wire fence, and then the flippyidy flop. one lucky lad.
The Ambo, Fire and Police all came and did there thing, the Police taking my statement, saying exactly what I said above. Tim gave me your home phone number so that I could ring you. The big GULP. How do you tell someone that there son has been involved in an accident... So I asked the Constable to do it since they have done this type of thing before and as well as me being a little nervous and maybe in a little bit of shock myself.
Once Tim was in the ambulance, the next thing was do I go back to Timaru or head on. It was the constable that basically said, you were on your way, and would probably be there once he gets out of the xray, and being cast and double checked over... which I couldn't do anything anyway. So I told Tim that you would be there and that I would keep going.
His response, and I quote "Ok, party hard"
So I continued north and the abulance pulled away about the same time. This was when it actually truly sunk in... "Fuck... what fuck just happened... how, why and...WTF " (excuse my language but that's exactly what I was thinking, feeling and woundering.
Anyway, I made it up there and as per Tims instructions I partied hard, and made it home safely. I have a photos of the event. Would be pretty cool to (well not cool but you know what I mean I hope) to have some higher grade photos of the remains of Tims bike, as I usually take a lot of photo's and it was part of my weekend and memories.
Kind regards
Dale

So I see that my, "incident" was captured not only on stills, but also a vid.
Tisk Tisk,
I dont remember starting the bike or how I got to her, 3/4 bottle of Jim Beam had been consumed by that stage, Just glad on one thing.
I would have got my ass kicked if I had tried anything else
Great bunch of people, worthy of the label "Me riding mates"
Well that was the first ride I had been on in two years,
Was really looking forward to it,
Had no idea of what to expect, but got all that I wanted plus!
10am and the sound of the bikes coming into greta valley, was time for me to fire up the Excessive.
A quick wave of the hand, and we were soon riding off over the hills,
Cheviot saw a stop for 10 min.... then I found out heck 15 more bike were behind us.
A quick tank up for those without fuel gauges, compolserly LOTTO tickes for us who forgot and off to the Staging post....sweet as ..... lovely line of clean good sounding rides streached out for 1/2 k in good stagger formation , plenty of room to move......I like it!
Staging post was found, and tents, pack racks, all unessesary add ons removed from the rides........Kiakora here we come.
Well as exspected, the Sport bikes all slithered away into the distance, was only a short time later a frigging truckintrailer at the start of the Hundies, slowed all us other "slow" people down
The nussence value was ..............we all know it, so fill it in yourself.
The manditory road works just before the tunnels ground us yet again to a walking pace, but those Sport Bikes weeeeelllllllll Gone! DamB!
Parking became a premium out side the pub in KaiKora, to say that they needed another 5 meters of Motor cycle parking bay should be mentioned to the local council .But it certainly looked impressive, Lunch over , tank up. Waiau turn off here we come.
Not needing gass, I headed straght to the turnoff with two other riders.
Was a good 15 min before I could hear the sound of the pack comming down the road.....The real reason for the Day was about to begin
All Helmets on and chin straps pulled that little tighter, time to go.
Cool, empty road.
This time the sports bikes did not get away from the Old Excessive.
I latched onto the last of the front pack and stayed there
Well I thought I could.........
Was not too bad for the first 10k, tucking intothe corners, fighting the twitching back wheel. hoping the brake fade would not arrive as the road got tighter........God You guys can toss those things around....
WOW!! Na that was too fast, A bit of rear end slide cooled me down.
The Old Excessive may be able to get there, but old school brakes, tyres, chassis, and shocks (what shocks) made butt clentching a reality.
So I backed off and let you guys go....
Well after dealing with the tight corners, BIG swarm of bugs, and a moblie white road block of wooly jumpers, I found you all parked up merrily chatting if you had just been for a casual drive.
A coment by a lady at the Waiau pub was My highlight of the day overheard her.....
""they are all big men arnt they darling?" mum says
"Yes Dear " Dad says
"" But look Mum" said the little girl laughing" Those are girls on those bikes over there, not boys"" pointing out a cetain White honda, Pink BMW and a Gold Buel.
Well thank you guys for a wonderfull day, I know i have raved on for ages,
But I will be there for the next ride whenever I can, because good company, bikes and riders are a draw card in anyones books
Cheers!

This was MY first KB run, but even if the rest are only a fraction as good! Ill be savin me stats, annuals sickies… what ever it takes! For Kb runs in the future!
Great place, Hot sun, Cold beverages, Slow tucker…lol just kiddin (might need to padlock that spit closed next time….it woulda cooked in half the time! I mean I musta checked the pig about a thousand times myself!)
Anyway it was a crash back to reality at work today, but I’d be lying if I said my mind didn’t wander to that happy place where my chin strap’s flapping and my heads on that certain angle so as my fav song is louder than the wind and I’m marveling at the Bridgestone engineers for the rapid course change required because I spotted that sheeps arse stinkin outta that bush too late! And I hope everyone gets that same fix, that rush I get…Me busa is a dream… and I hope you all think the same of your rides as well! What ever pushes ya buttons.
Whoa!!! I was just wonderin off again just then lol.
Twas MY pleasure to meet each & every one of you, hope all got home safe n sound with not too bigger hole in the pocket and some brain cells left for next time.

ah poor Tim, bloody sad way to start the weekend for you NH.
anyway on with the show.
It was shaping up for a great weekend, after having a night before with the Scumdogs, and the norfies and speedygirl at the local. We all retired early... well a little bit early cos us oldies need our sleep and then up bright and early the next morning. In fact we were ready to go about an hour before we needed too  musta been the excitement I guess.
Met up with the others at the Peg, and faced with a strong easterly we headed out with 13 bikes, picking up Ghostie and XKnut and Subike along the way, so a total of 16 bikes up to meet up with the overnighters already at the staging post. Kicked a few of them outa bed and headed away at aprox 12.30hours up the coast to Kaikoura for a rather slow lunch.
At that point the first of my bikeswapping began for the day... it was time to try the old MV Augusta Brutale for a few kms up the inland kaikoura road.... oooooooo errrrrrr YUMMY :Punk: tho not the same sound or feel of the Buell, but a damn nice bike anyway. Very flicky round the corners, and altho the owner thinks it sounds like a lawnmower, I thought it sounded alright ;)
Back to the Staging post to check that the pork was doing its thing, only to find it was going to be a rather late serving of pork due to quite a slow gas spit, ah well, when it finally was done and eventually carved (ok I'm kinda new to this chopping up a great big pig) it was rather nice. Ta for the intro to that nice back steak Shrek, learn something new everyday!
Went for a stroll round the staging post, cor there is some cool stuff round thre , like the stage Dangerous mentioned earlier. It would make an awesome spot for a outdoor band. Got back only to find that the local cops :Police: had descended on the place, but scummy had it well under control and managed to convince said cop to stay in his car and just look the other way... probably cos SD was doing some fast talking/drinking/laughing
So evening settled and the usual bullshit was going round, when I decided to put the bike to bed for the night. Being a sober one, Chrissie Bimbo said I should do the same for their bikes, so I did. Firstly the red 1200 sporty had a wee blat round the yard and up the road, amidst cries from the previous owner about "some tart is stealing my bike!!", then the cries got even more raucous when the white Tsport went on a wee adventure as well. The guzzi owner didn't even notice his bike heading away... and that was my 5 rides of the day, very cool!
All in all a bloody fine day/evening/night/day. The ride home was superb, the rain of the previous midnight had cleared and not a breath of wind made the trip home seem just too quick.
Ah well roll on next year :woohoo:

To arrive home, the little gun shells, and Mrs Bullet to greet me was wonderful.
Being one of the last to head soth from the Post, it was kinda nice riding alone (been along time doing so) and to reflect....No regrets... bloody great weekend was had. I followed a copper car much of the way home, so a nice fuel saving pace.
Waking in the morning(Sunday) being told it was group shot time, moving the body and getting wicked cramp in me leg...ouch!!!!!
Going to bed was somthing, the great thing was I did not even have to pack my sleeping bag in the morning, I think I forgot to undo from it's cram sack.
The day before started with a mighty rush to get sorted, but made it to Woodend to meet xknut, awaiting the passing crew from the peg.
The Staging Post is a great place, Nighthawk gave me the tour, and thanks dude, otherwise I may have drunkin and never done no seein.
Going on the hoon up to Kaikoura for lunch and back inland with South3rnRid3er pillion was great. Took it easy again, enjoyin the sights. Waiau pub stop was nice to.
That would be leading us into my first album just thrown up onto webby shots....... and then on into the evening.

The visiting copper would not even accept one of my kebabs, maybe he was thinkin I could use it against him in the future, or he would come down sick over night, leaving the roads free and wild????
The chook went down fast, (should bought two boxes) (next time) it was a long wait for the pig to be porked, but well worth it. Jen musta been mighty hungry, moths and all..........
<a href="http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2473456790100338616WeOyWB"><img src="http://thumb16.webshots.net/t/60/660/4/56/79/2473456790100338616WeOyWB_th.jpg" alt="i hungry this moth yummy"></a>
In the mean time "What was I thinking" I bought a box of 12% woodys (24cans) many of those cans ended up down others throats, for had they made it down mine, I think I not be typing on here tonight.
Now I thinks it time to look at what video was taken, as I really have little idea.

part 1...
well well well.... that ones gotta be the best so far!!!!!!!!!!! :first:
Fri dawned a gorgeous day here in paradise!! Did what I had to do on the home front, then loaded up ma baby & rode on out with a smile on me dial as big as a cheshire cat!!!!!!!!!!! :D
Got a tad windy & a wee bit chilly bout Blenheim, but all in all a bloody great ride South! Pulled into the SP bout 6.30ish, to be greeted by Delphinus, cold comfort, NighthawkNZ, timg & oldrider. Awesome to meet/see you guys again!!! Was very shocked to hear the news of our young Tim's (Phaedrus) accident on his way up on Friday!!! thoughts & love for a speedy recovery Tim!! Bit later FREE2B, Connor, outbackal, LoC, & South3rn Rid3r arrived! Much later Shrek & Mrs Shrek arrived.. I think thus completing the partyhard Fri night crew! A FANTASTIC night was had in the games room (outta the cold breeze..) with bout 4 hours worth of ferkin funny table tennis & pool matches happening!!! I enjoyed Fri night sooooo much!!!!!!!!! Thanks to all for your TOP company!!!
Sat dawned a bEEEEUUtiful day.. was up bout 8.30.. :gob: with a weee bit of a thumper up top... a loooong shower helped immensely!! The pig was found to be tooo well fed & cared for.. (on ya, doc!!!!) & thus tooo big for the spit roast.. so thanks to Shrek.. it was given a top & tail.. all sorted, then set to cook!! :Punk:
The rest of the ChCh rabble arrived.. along with a couple of Norf Island "imports".. more intros were done & many a hug from old & new friends alike, were very much enjoyed!! Tis ferkin AWESOME getting to put faces to names.. especially ones that I have enjoyed giving the proverbial shyte to (& received equally from, I'll add!!! aye doc.. :devil2: ). After beds were claimed & verbal diarrhoea was enchanged, the convoy set forth for lunch in Kaikoura. The bike line up was an impressive sight to behold! :first:
We then turned off & headed towards Waiau via the Inland Road at a stropping pace, which started out ok.. but when the twisty turny bits soon presented themselves, I found that the brain & co-ordination skills had all but gone out the window  & I was left cursing meself many a time for ferkin up me lines, not looking far enough forwards & generally riding like a nana :baby: A cold coke was enjoyed at Waiau & the brain cells were marginally revitalised.. so the ride back out the Leader was a bit better.. was definately thankful to see the Main Road at the other end however! A few more faces had arrived back at the home turf.. totally our numbers to 32

part 2...
being camp mother.. twas my job to round up all the money for accommodation.. & then round again for the spitroast fee.. which by the time I finished that, my poor brain was about set to retire.. for life.. :stupid: & a stroooong cold Kahlua was in order.. well.. several actually.. :drinknsin
While porker was cooking.. slowly.. marshmellows were toasted over the fire, baked potatoes were handed out as was garlic bread.. THANKS Chrissy!!!! as was YUUUUMMY chicken kebabs!!! Thanks Ghost Bullet!!!
The night proceeded with much hilarity, hijinks & raucous laughter to be had from all quarters!! The photos certainly attest to the enjoyment of all.. GREAT pics people!!!!!!!!!!!!
Said pig was eventually ready.. the unveiling was a sight to savour.. & from what what I saw.. the contents sure didn't take long to be devoured either!!!!!! Then with full tummies & obliterated brain cells, the ranks slowly started disappearing.. leaving the handful of hardy late night crew to whittle away the small hours.. with ever increasing levels of uncomprehendable dialogue  till eventually we were all tucked up safe & happy in our beds to dream happy dreams till dawn :zzzz:
Sunday arrives.. far too early.. as I crawled out bout 9am :gob: seriously don't think I have EVER been up so early at a rally.. let alone 2 days in a row!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :eek5: anyhoooo.. another gorgous day was bestowed upon us.. promising a glorious ride for the many homeward bound journeys!! Fairtheewells were given & more hugs dished out as the ranks slowly vacated (I always hate that part..:crybaby:) leaving Loc & I to sit waiting, savouring the peace & quiet for our Pains crew to show up on a club ride, en route to Kaikoura for lunch.. again.. At last I had people to ride North with for a while when leaving a SP doo.. (I normally leave by myself!!!) so enjoyed that very much!!! Ate faaaarrr too much for lunch, but by god was it yummy!!!!
twas nearing 3pm by this stage.. so was high time to set forth on my homeward leg!! More hugs were dished out & received from my beloved crew of 14 years!!!!!!! Then I cranked up the sounds on my mp3 & proceeded to cruise on up the coast! The pace was leisurely & the views savoured & implanted into my (jaded) but full memory banks.. of a weekend that will be reflected back upon for many a happy time to come!!! :first:

PLEEEEASE let me know if I have missed anyone else off the list.. so I can add them in here.. my memory is a little hazey!!
I actually spend quite a lot of time Sat night, just quietly watching everyone.. & what I saw was a truely AWESOME bunch of people, who I felt privileged being in the company of.. & all of whom I now hold in high regard to be able to call "friends". It was a real pleasure meeting each & every one of you.. & sitting back watching you all enjoying yourself so much.. (after the occassional headache of organising it all) It gave me the BIGGEST buzz you won't believe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! & made it all SOOOOO worthwhile!!!!!!! I'd do it all again in a heartbeat!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you to everyone for a truely memorable weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My contribution to the saga:
Part one.
Friday, 08:00
Left home in reasonably good weather, and headed for first stop in Dunners, hoping to look at motorhomes, but the guy wasn't there, so carried on.
Gassed up in Nth Dun and set off again. Planned on taking the coastal route from Evansdale, (the old main road), but roadworks, wet tar, and a mass of roadworks machinery across the intersection made turning off too difficult so took the main drag over the Kilmog.
On to Oamaru for lunch and more gas, Timaru, Ashburton and finally Christchurch where, as usual I got hopelessly lost looking for helenoftroy's street. Asked about 5 people all told and when I asked the last one found we were standing just a block away!
After a shower and a meal we sat and talked, (no prizes for guess what about), and a reasonably early night.
A great start to the weekend; thanks helenoftroy; you really are the 'hostess with the mostest!'

Part two.
Saturday, 09:00
After a good breakfast and another chat we set off to meet up with the others at the Peg, and hit the road about 09:30. It was a great ride up, picking up others at Woodend and Greta Valley. The rest of the 'Dooo' is well document, so I'll skip that part, except to say what a ball!
Sunday, time to leave...pack up the tent etc. and we left via the old main road. Lotsa twisties as opposed to the new main road which is a bit like a tightly pulled string. Too soon we arrived back on the main road.
Our small group regrouped at Amberly, where oldrider suggested letting the others go on ahead, and we would cruise along at our own pace.
Lunch in Christchurch and then he led me down through Lincoln Road and on to Springston and Leeston and back to the main road at Rakaia?
Cool drinks at the Chequered Flag and on to Temuka where we parted company. I grouped up with a couple of Triumphs, but they turned off just out of Temuka.

Awesome job with the piccys people :first:
The weekend for us hardy southern bunch started thursday with a meet up at 12 ... turnin into 1 pm with myself connor cold comfort and delphinus then off to the west coast. Splitting into two connor and I picked up outbackal at cromwell and then met with the others at Makarora for a drink stop. The speedy sportsters took off and al and I cruised along at a more leisurly pace. First night at Franz Joseph then off to the stagin post. Somewhere along the way we parted company as outbackal connor and I took the more scenic route up the coast and thru the buller gorge ... not perhaps intended but what a fantastic trip :niceone: . Others had long arrived before us but it was well worth the time taken. A night of hilarious converstation, pool and pingpong followed. Took off to Kaikoura early next mornin to do a few things then met the main bunch for the ride thru Waiau. What a great road and was awesome being part of a ride with so many others loved every minute of it.:woohoo: Have really got sum serious cornering practise in these last few days. Back to camp and had the best evening... so many new people and lots of well known kbers too what a great turn out  Was sorry to have to go the next morning but set off pretty early and took sum time to call in and see Phaedrus in Timaru with Nighthawk and connor, was great to see him still with a grin. Believe he is back in Dunners now.
All up, it was the best time and cant wait till the next one.:Punk::woohoo::first::headbang:

Part three.
Carried on to Oamaru where I took a cabin for the night, and caught up with a grand-daughter I hadn't seen for about three years.
Monday.
Gassed up. ( I seem to have been doing a lot of that!) Put on my rainsuit as it was starting to rain and off to Dunedin where I took it off again and caught up with the Motorhome man.Put my name on one that I liked as soon as I saw it. Just need to organise the dosh now!
Last leg to home and the only close call for the whole weekend, less than
10km from home. The FH boys have been busy patching the road and loose pebbles had been thrown over to my side. I hit them about two feet from the centre line and started sliding. When I crossed the line on the outside I thought, "This is going to hurt!" However, I stopped sliding about two inches from the edge of the seal. Needless to say I rode the last few km a little more
sedately.
Back up to Milton in the cage to collect the dogs from the Kennels this morning and had a puncture on the way home.
That adds another 180km on to the weekend at both ends.
All up, a great weekend; covered just 20 short of 1500km on the bike.
Thanks to all who organised the event. One of the best weekends of my life!

Well, sitting here at Mongooses in Motueka and reading this thread - great pics Jen and glad to see names/bikes and know who is who.
Got here OK except for a total fog white-out going over the Lewis and a compression lock-up on a bend coming down the Hope Saddle.:shit: which caused the Tequila Sunrise to do a side-step on me - shee-it these bends are slippery in the wet, be warned!!!
Staying here another two nights and then heading back for the Riviera of the South, had planned on going back via West Coast but given the amount of rain it's getting at the moment that's unlikely.

Well, CB and I are back at Chez Scumdog again, safe and sound (well apart from the bee-sting I got riding down from Tarras) after covering 2,297km.
After staying with Mongoose we headed east due to the damp weather on the Coast, got a wet arse going over the Whangamoa and Rai saddles but fine weather and a cheese-board-and-wine near Blenhiem saw us right.
We headed on down past Kaikoura and more dampness but picked up a cray and a bottle of wine and stayed in the jail-house at Cheviot (No shit, a 1906 wooden jail-house is a bunkroom at the camping ground!) and had ourself a wee cray-and-wine feast.
Next day headed south, breaky at the Mainline Cafe near Dommett, well worth a visit, off inland at Amberley and lunch at Jo Seagars cafe (trust CB to know Jo Seagar had a cafe in Oxford!) weather was ranging from so-so to crappy so we we headed on to Pleasant Point for the night and stayed at ye olde pub, garage across the street allowed us to bed out Harleys in their workshop, top hospitality!
Up this morning and weather looked like it was on the improve so inland it was - man, when you climb up the hill over the hill a bit after Burkes Pass and see the Southern Alps in the distance, the day is warm and sunny, you have a tail wind, the smell the roadside lupin flowers is almost overpowering and the bikes are purring along and you're with the one you love you just know this is what Heaven must be like!!
What a trip through the the McKenzie basin that was!! Lunch at Omarama and a fun trip throught the Lindis before follwing the mighty Clutha to home, a 445km day trip of excellent riding.
CBs first longish trip and loved it, she took to it like a duck to water.:2thumbsup
And just to ruin the KB riding record: no, we didn't bin and didn't get a ticket (or even stopped by the 5-0)
Now the steeds have been groomed, we've dined and it's off to bed.

Yeah, we noticed you and I bet you got a wave - and a head nod too! (Probably get thrown out of the Harleys-don't-wave-at-sprots-bikes club for that!!)
CB thought you were riding 'funny' - something about your legs sticking out or something?
And yep, we were taking the long way home from the Staging Post 'do' - we had just left Pleasant Point that morning, you should see the pics of the bikes with Mt Cook n the background at Pukaki.:sunny::cool:

So iv'e got funny looking legs eh? Probably stretching them or positional due to being shoved forward by the "two up and baggage" position. Did a quick overnight whip over to Wanaka trip. Always a good blat down the Cardrona valley tho a bit of gravel on one corner caused a twitch or two.
Been a while since i had my spouse on the back. Makes you ralise what a luxury it is riding solo. Don't get the home comforts tho!

Awesome rally , I'm keen to do it again all 3,842km. Best weather ever until we got to Makarora, (2.13 litre for 91) and had to get the wet weather gear out.
Before they advertise water-proof they should try them out on the coast. Nothing worked, but it is a rain forest after all.
No problem doing another pig, lot easier having someone pick it up at a depot, than what was originally planned . Thanks Bren. Good effort to all those involved . Especially Jen. I will send some CD's down, ended up with 200mb of vid mostly of the ride from the Peg and the Sat ride. Havin some problem with the still camera at the moment.
Thanks everyone.
