View Full Version : Costs to hire Hampton Downs

The prices are up on the website for track bookings made in 2008, for 2009.

http://www.hamptondowns.com/Track-Bookings.wse

Can anyone tell me how this compares to other Nth Is tracks?

It does not seem all that expensive to me, I mean if you were running a non profit track day and got 130 people charging $100 each thats more than enough to cover the track hire on a weekend. There are other costs involved, but there should be more than enough left over to cover them.

Full track on w/e = $6750 for the day. How do you get 130 x $100 to be non-profit?

$100 * 130 = $13000 - $6750 track hire = $6250 for other stuff ?

It was just a quick example that I came up with.

What's this cost 'per car' bit for trackdays?

I'm hoping that's a charge for an open testing day, and not a charge per vehicle on top of the track hire?

If it's only $6.75k for the full track then I'd say that's damn good, as it's less than Taupo and HD should shit on that.

Charging more for Drifters is all good too!!

Looks to me like that $150/180 applies per ..... when they are running an open track day. Otherwise you hire (the track) at the stated amount.

as it's less than Taupo
No it's not.

How much does Taupo cost?
$6120 for a weekend day (track 1).

No it's not.

My bad. I didn't mean to type 'less than', meant to type a 'negligible amount more than', as last I'd heard it was $6500. Even $6750 vs. $6120 seems like better value to me.

'per vehicle' only shows up on 'trackday' which i'd guess is an open day.

What you have to remember is that the track is already fully paid for by the apartments, industrial space, and key stakeholders (testing/training etc).

I heard that they could sit quite happily without running major racing events such as V8's for extra income. But not doing it would just be silly!

From my point of view (TrackFun), Hampton Downs has hit the nail on the head cost wise. It should be stunning when opened and TrackFun will be there.

The weekday short circuit configs look exceptionally good value for money. Wonder if the skid-pan could be used for training and/or stunting? Hell, I could hire it for a day, stick a cone in the middle and eventually deck out my knee sliders...or maybe not.

Am I the only one that thinks they'll be digging up the corner at the end of the back straight within the year due to the lack of run-off?

I cant agree that Taupo is a "one liner" Poos. I have found most corners are able to be attacked by 2 or more lines (in and out) . I agree its a one liner for cars and they are stuck in a snake from start to finish.
I have been watching Hampton Downs with much interest and i think they have managed to do what Taupo wanted to do but didnt have the money or the space to actually finish with.
Lets face it people, We are a very small percentage of the population here and the likes of Hampton SDowns will have to be utilised fully to make it STAY as a great venue, otherwise it will turn into a partly paved "mistake" like Manfeild is now.
Cheers Paul.

can you spread it around in lots of peices so it doesn't resemble the ugly pile of machinery it started it's life as?

That's 'pieces' - i before e except after c. I'll be sure not to let you ride the new machine then, as your suggestion would certainly become a reality...

Are drifters even allowed at other overseas premier tracks? Those drifting parasites shouldnt be allowed near HD :argh:

The Drifters will bring far more money in than motorcycles ever will and as long as they do the tracks will accommodate them
